ABSTRACT
Introduction : In the last few decades, there has been an interesting increase in the study of the relationship between
psychosocial stressors and various health conditions. Changes that occur in a person's life after the disease will have
a wide impact and affect the health function of the tray physically, mentally, spiritually and socially if not managed
properly will cause disorders of adjustment, stress, anxiety, depression and even pain. There have been many therapies
to reduce anxiety, stress and depression but the level of stress still occurs and can not be explained. SEFT is an
alternative therapy that can reduce the level of depression, stress and anxiety.
Method : The method used is literature review. The literature search uses EBSCO, Science Direct, google scholar
and Proquest databases. In the early stages of searching of journal articles, 34 journal journals from 2007 to 2017 were
obtained using the keyword "SEFT in stroke patients", "SEFT in chronic patients", "SEFT" and "SEFT on management
stress." Of these, about 10 articles were considered relevant.
Result : The results showed that SEFT therapy is a therapy that provides an impact on psychological disorders,
especially to reduce the degrees of depression, anxiety, and stress. Bakara et al, 2013 states that SEFT is able to reduce
depression, anxiety, and stress levels, which shows the average difference between the control group and the treatment
group, before and after treatment. Puspitaningrum, 2012, SEFT is able to reduce anxiety, stress and depression in
patients with schizophrenia, while a study conducted by Ulfah Dwi Yuliani & Purwanti 2013 conducted on 32
menopausal women, showed decreased anxiety levels after intervention each week. In a study conducted by
Brahmantia & Huriah 2016 in post transurethral resection prostate (TURP) patients showed that the mean anxiety
values before and after intervention in the intervention group decreased. Aulianita & Sudarmiati study 2015 showed
that anxiety 30 respondents, after SEFT therapy showed no anxiety. From the results of research conducted by
Desmaniarti & Avianti 2014 shows that SEFT is able to reduce stress of cervical cancer patients significantly. Astuti
et al. 2015 found that there was a significant decrease in depression rates in the intervention group after being given
SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique).
Conclusion:
SEFT therapy is one of the alternative therapies that can reduce the level of anxiety, depression and stress on various
conditions and diseases. The disease is acute coronary syndrome, stroke, menopausal women, schizophrenia, HIV,
cervical cancer, chemotherapy and hemodialysis patients. SEFT can also reduce pain in patients post surgery.
