;Basis for Species Conservation

Introduction

Biodiversity is a contraction of the phrase "biological diversity," and refers to the

variability of life within a species (judged by the variations in its genetic makeup), an
ecosystem, a region and even across the planet. The author identifies the principal
institutions, organizations, conventions and international programs that specifically refer
to biodiversity, the environment or ecosystem services. This more recent ‘ecosystem
approach’ has radically changed the perspective on biodiversity by focusing on the
services that biodiversity provides (S. Morand 2010).

Biodiversity studies are directed at the four levels of biological organization:

genes, species, communities and populations, and ecosystems .Such studies cut
across or incorporate traditional disciplines such as ecology, evolution, genetics,
systematics, biogeography, and conservation biology. Early concern son biodiversity
were related to conservation and many biodiversity studies, in fact, have as their goals
the conservation and management of genetic resources, species and ecosystems(A
Alcala 2003).

Harmful agricultural practices, such as over cultivation, overgrazing, bush fires,

cultivation of marginal and easily eroded land, mechanization and the widespread use
of chemicals and pesticides, have intensified the degradation of the soil and vegetation
and led to rapid decline of species types and their numbers. Agriculture and biodiversity
can be complementary activities. If properly managed, agriculture should enhance and
not be the enemy of biodiversity in the dry lands of Africa ( MB Kwesi 2002)

Environmental insecurity is a source and outcome of biodiversity declines and

social conflict. One challenge to scaling insecurity reduction policies is that empirical
evidence about local attitudes is overwhelmingly missing. We set three objectives:
determine how local people rank risk associated with different sources of environmental
insecurity; assess perceptions of environmental insecurity, biodiversity exploitation,
myths of nature and risk management preferences; and explore relationships between

Scope and Limitations of the study

The scopes of this research are the selective citizen in General Luna , Quezon. The
limitations of this research are only those citizen that are currently able to undertake the
questions.

Significance of the study

The proposed research will determine the Assessment of Biodiversity condition in

General Luna, Quezon. The result of this study will make the basis for the Species
conservation. The researchers expect that through this study, the General Luna ,
Quezon will develop strategic solutions regarding this assessment of Biodiversity we
found out that most of the species Conservation have a lot of needs. .
