Introduction:
Election law is a discipline falling at the juncture of constitutional law and political science. It researches
"the politics of law and the law of politics". In the Philippines, election law acquires a new dimension with
the introduction of automated elections.

Instruction:
Divide the class into five (5) big groups. Assign the following topics to the different groups:
A. Group 1 – Filing of Certificate of Candidacy;
B. Group 2 – Campaign and Electoral Propaganda;
C. Group 3 – Casting and Counting of Ballots;
D. Group 4 – Pre-proclamation Controversies; and
E. Group 5 – Election Contests.

Task:
Each group will brainstorm as to how they will teach the assigned topic in a creative manner. The groups
must also include at least two (2) cases in their presentation.

Each group is given at most one (1) hour to do the assigned task. Thus, the group must budget their time
properly.

Each group must submit a lesson plan and a copy of the assessment in the form of ten (10) multiple
choice questions. The questionnaire must contain the correct answer with reason/s explaining why it is
correct. The Lesson Plan must be in the following format:

A. Introduction;
B. Lesson Proper;
C. Evaluation; and
D. Closure.

Lastly, the group must prepare notes with case digests for their classmates to read concerning their
assigned topic.

Evaluation:
You will be graded as a group (not individually). Thus, you are expected to cooperate with your group and
ensure the success of this activity. Lastly, the group will submit the consolidated scores of their
classmates in the quiz that they administered during the activity.

“The business of a law school is not sufficiently described when you merely say that it is to teach
law or to make lawyers; it is to teach law in the grand manner, and to make great lawyers.”

-Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
