OUR CHAIN STORY

PROCEDURES & RULES
PLEMINARY ROUNDS: INTER - GROUP COMPETITIONS

1. Divide the students into groups of 5 or 6. The teacher may use your own way to determine the
grouping. It is best to not let the students to choose their own group members. Division of groups/
practice period should be done prior to competition date.

2. The groups MUST be a mixed group of boys and girls

3. Each group is given 10 minutes to complete their own chain story

4. Give each group a beginning sentence to start their story. The class teacher has to prepare the
beginning lines before the competition. Examples:

Knock , knock who’s there?..........

It was a dark and eerie night………..

5. Each student must create a sentence before passing it to the next person. If a student can’t make
a sentence after half a minute, he or she can pass it to the next person. Each group is only given 3
passes which cannot be taken by the same person. Each pass will incur penalty to the group ( to
discourage students from passing

6. At any time within the 10 minutes, the class teacher must show 3 things ( which could be pre –
prepared/ things found in the classroom like a book, a pencil case or water bottle). One at a time.
The student must to include the thing in the story.

7. The story must be concluded within the time frame. A half minute warning may be given
(discretion of the class teacher)

8. Penalty can be imposed for passes, use of Malay words, failure to include the item(s) chosen by
the teacher, inappropriate remarks/ storyline/ closing or any other inappropriate actions deemed by
the teacher ( 1 mark each)

9. Choose the 3 best groups as winners. Please submit the group leaders’ names to the coordinator

10. As a class, select representatives for the class for the final round ( inter- class). The
representatives can be chosen from different groups. Choose 5 students to represent the class.

11. Time/Date of the final round will be notified later. All form 2 students will be the audience for
the final round at the main hall. The coordinator will ask En. Rahim to give ELD suitable time for the
final round ( suggested time: 3 periods)

FINAL ROUND: INTER - CLASS COMPETITION

2. The groups MUST be a mixed group of boys and girls

3. Each group is given 10 minutes to complete their own chain story

4. Give each group a beginning sentence to start their story. A list of beginning lines will be prepared
by the coordinator beginning lines before the competition. Examples:

round, students are allowed to make more than one sentences to make the story interesting. If a
student can’t make a sentence after half a minute, he or she can pass it to the next person. Each
group is only given 3 passes which cannot be taken by the same person. Each pass will incur penalty
to the group ( to discourage students from passing

6. At any time within the 10 minutes, 5 pictures will be shown on the powerpoint . One at a time.
The student MUST to include them in the story.

7. The story must be concluded within the time frame. A one minute warning will be given

the teachers/judges ( 1 mark each)

9. All form 2 teachers will be involved as judges.

10. Time/Date of the final round will be notified later. All form 2 students will be the audience for
the final round at the main hall. The coordinator will ask En. Rahim to give ELD suitable time for the
final round ( suggested time: 3 periods)

11. The judges decision is final.
