Lesson idea implementation:

The students will be creating a timeline of important events, people, and developments that happened
between 1950-1975 using the application Timeline (or PowerPoint). The project will be introduced with a
discussion about what the students already know about the time period. After the discussion, the teacher will
introduce the project and the topics they need to research and place on the timeline. This project could take
up to two days because of the research that is required. The students learning will be accessed by having
them print out the timeline with their research to turn in. The final product will inform students of important
events, people, and developments that took place during this time period that changed the American
lifestyle.
The teacher would be a resource, to help students in the right direction with research and making sure
they are using correct citation. You could extend the student learning to a higher learning level by having
them post it to the classes blog making it available for others to see. I would conclude the lesson by having
another discussion to bring it full circle, such as talking about how the events influence our world today, or
even our classroom. I would provide feedback on their timelines by having them turn it in and grading them
based on the provided rubric.

Reflective Practice:
This activity could impact student learning because they could be learning about key events that shape the
present. I designed this lesson to introduce a unit of study, so I could further extend this lesson by having
them split up into groups and go into more detail about each event, person, or development during this time
period. I could further enhance this project with a game of kahoot! after to make sure they retained the
information they learned.
