Stingrays have a flat wide body. They are
related to sharks. Like sharks, they do have
bones.
Some species flap their bird-like wings
and “fly” through the water. They have
sharp pointed tails.
Stingrays can release poison through
their tails. They like to hide in the mud. The
colours of their bodies match the mud or
sand they hide in.
Whales are large, intelligent animals
that live in the sea. They are mammals.
They breathe in air through their blowholes
and into their lungs.

warm-blooded and give milk to their
young.
There are many different types of
whales. The biggest whale is the blue
whale. The smallest whale is the dwarf
sperm whale.
A calendar is very useful to us. It shows
us the days of the week and months of
the year. By looking at the calendar, we
know that January is the first month of the
year and December is the last.
A calendar also shows us information
about national and state holidays. We
can also get information on school terms
and holidays.
Best of all, I know what day my
birthday falls on this year!
There are many different types of butterflies.
Adult butterflies have large brightly coloured
wings. Some types of butterflies can live up to
a week. Other types of butterflies can live up
to a year. Most butterflies drink nectar from
flowers.
The butterfly has to protect itself from being
eaten by birds, spiders and other predators.
Most butterflies protect themselves through
camouflage. The female adult butterfly will lay
eggs on leaves and stems. After the caterpillar
hatches from egg, it will feed on leaves and
grow fast. Soon the caterpillar will become a
pupa. During the pupa stage, the caterpillar
will transform into an adult butterfly.
The word ‘computer’ comes from the word
‘compute’ which means ‘to calculate’.
Computers were developed from calculators
and Charles Babbage is known as the father of
the computer.
The first computers could fill a whole room.
They were used by the American army during
the Second War. Later, large businesses and
universities used smaller computers.
The computer was first used in homes in
1980s. By the end 1990s, computers could
process information very fast. We can now use
them to go online, play computer games and
produce spreadsheets.
