Westfield
We have been very busy over the last
few weeks! We love reaching out
into our community and have
enjoyed visits to Dorrington House
to spend time with our older friends,
Watton Sports Centre to compete
against other local schools in multi
sports skills for the Wayland Cup, St.
Mary’s Church for RE, and Knights
Park Housing Development to lay a
time capsule for History. There is so
much for our children to learn about
right where we live!
March 7th was World Book Day
2019 (See picture front page) and we
celebrated by asking all of the
children to come to school dressed as
their favourite story character. We
were full to the rafters with
princesses and superheroes, Where’s
Wally and Alice in Wonderland,
Roald Dahl & JK Rowling characters
to name but a few! Many of the staff
also joined in and every classroom
was themed around a different story
with the children completing a round
robin to visit each room.
After that we threw ourselves in to
British Science Week (8th to 15th
March) with gusto! We were very
fortunate to receive a £300 grant
towards inviting all our parents and
carers into school take part in
science workshops with their
children. The children were amazed
by a variety of experiments,
including exploring colour mixing
with Skittles, creating rain clouds
in a jar, making raisins dance and
volcanoes erupt! Pictures from some
