Act of Contrition
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, and most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.
Spiritual Communion
O my Jesus! (I turn towards the Holy Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden for the love of me.) I can not
receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into my heart, sanctify it, purify it,
render it like unto Thy Own.Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and
my soul shall be healed.
Anima Christi
Soul of Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! Hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;
For ever and ever. Amen.
O Jesus, may my heart and all the hearts of the world burn for the love of Thee. Amen.
I love Thee, Jesus, my love above all things. I am sorry for having offended Thee. Never permit me to
offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee, always, and then do with me what Thou wilt. Amen.

Let us pray
O Almighty and ever lasting God, the eternal salvation of those who believe in Thee, hear us on behalf of
Thy servants that are sick, for we humbly crave the help of Thy mercy; that their health may be restored
if Thou seest that it is a good for them, and that they render thanks to Thee in Thy Church. Though
Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Life Everlasting
Prayer of St. Augustine
Blessed are they who have passed over the great and wide sea to the eternal shore, and are now blessed
in their desired rest. Blessed are they who have escaped from all evils, and are secure of their unfading
glory in Thee, Thou kingdom of blessedness. How long shall I be tossed about on the waves of this
mortal life crying unto Thee, O Lord God, while Thou hearest me not? Hear me, O Lord, from this great
and wide ocean, and bring me to the everlasting haven. Amen.
Tuesday
O Lord God Omnipotent, I ask Thee by the Precious Blood, which Thy Divine Son Jesus shed in His
bitter crowning with thorns, deliver the souls in purgatory, and among them all, particularly that soul
which is in the greatest need of our prayers, in order that it may not long be delayed in praising Thee in
Thy glory and blessing Thee forever. Amen.
Our Father... , Hail Mary ... .
Wednesday
O Lord God Omnipotent, I ask Thee by the Precious Blood, which Thy Divine Son Jesus which was
shed in the streets of Jerusalem whilst He did carry on His sacred shoulders the heavy burden of the
Cross, deliver the souls in purgatory, and especially that one which is richest in merits in Thy sight, so
that, having soon attained the high place in glory to which it was destined, it may praise Thee
triumphantly and bless Thee forever. Amen.
Our Father... , Hail Mary ... .
Thursday
O Lord God Omnipotent, I ask Thee by the Precious Body and Blood of Thy Divine Son Jesus, which
He Himself on the night before His Passion gave as meat and drink to His beloved Apostles and
bequeathed to His holy Church to the perpetual Sacrifice and life-giving nourishment of His faithful
people, deliver the souls in purgatory, but most of all, that soul which was the most devoted to this
Mystery of Infinite Love, in order that it may praise Thee together with Thy Divine Son and the Holy
Ghost in Thy glory forever. Amen.
Our Father... , Hail Mary ... .
Friday
O Lord God Omnipotent, I ask Thee by the Precious Blood, which Jesus Thy Divine Son did shed this
day upon the tree of the Cross, especially from His sacred hands and feet, deliver the souls in purgatory,
and particularly that soul which I am most bound to pray, in order that I may not be the cause which
hinders Thee from admitting it quickly to the possession of Thy glory where it may praise Thee forever
more. Amen.
Our Father... , Hail Mary
Saturday
O Lord God omnipotent, I ask Thee by the Precious Blood which gushed forth from the sacred side of
Thy Divine Son Jesus in the presence and to the great sorrow of His most holy Mother, deliver the souls
in purgatory, and among them all especially that soul which has been most devoted to this most noble
Lady, that it may come quickly into Thy glory, there to praise Thee in her, and her in Thee through all
ages. Amen.
Our Father... , Hail Mary ... .
(May their souls and the souls of all the faithful depart through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer To St Rita
Saint of the impossible
O Holy Patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose dealings before the Divine Lord are almost
irresistible. Who, for thy lavishness in granting favours hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless
and even of the Impossible. St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such
compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest,
on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not always relief, at least
comfort. Be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant. Be
lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine
own devotion, and the consolation of those who trust in thee. We promise, if our petition is granted, to
glorify thee by making known thy favour, to bless and to sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy
merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that (Here mention your
request).
Obtain for us our request:
By the singular merits of thy childhood,
By thy perfect union with the Divine Will,
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God
By thy miraculous entrance into the convent,
By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourging,
By thy sufferings caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Saviour.
By the divine love which consumed thy heart,
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which thou didst exist for four years,
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,
By the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of life,
Let us pray
O God, Who in Thy infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed
Rita, and doest grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in
reward of her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and
succour us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the
defence of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
ADVENT
May we offer humble hearts, as mangers, to receive our Infant Lord this Christmas; and may His Blessed
Mother prepare us for this holy event.
CHRISTMAS
Prayer Before the Crib
I adore Thee, O Word Incarnate, true Son of God from all eternity, and true son of Mary ever Virgin in
the fullness of time. When I adore Thy Divine Person and the Humanity united to Thy Divinity, I
venerate the poor manger which welcomed Thee when an Infant, and which was truly the Throne of Thy
Love. I prostrate myself before it with the simplicity of the shepherds, with the faith of Joseph, with the
love of Mary I bow down before this precious memorial of our salvation with the same spirit of
mortification, poverty and humility with which Thou, the Lord of heaven and earth, didst choose a
manger wherein to lay Thy tender Infant Limbs, and Thou, O Lord, Who in Thine Infancy didst deign to
lay Thyself in a manger; vouchsafe also to pour into my heart a drop of that joy to which the sight of
Thy lovely Childhood and the miracles that accompanied Thy Birth, gave rise. By that holy Birth, I now
implore Thee to grant all the world peace and good-will, and in the name of the whole human race I
render thanks and honour to God the Father and to God the Holy Ghost, Who with Thee liveth and
reigneth one God world without end. Amen.

OCTOBER 2nd
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
Most glorious prince of the Heavenly Armies, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in our battle
against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the spirits of
wickedness in the high places". (Ephes., VI, 12). Come to the assistance of men whom God has created
to His likeness and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Holy Church
venerates thee as her guardian and protector; to thee, the Lord has entrusted the souls of the redeemed
to be led into heaven. Pray therefore the God of Peace to crush Satan beneath our feet, that he may no
longer retain men captive and do injury to the Church. Offer our prayers to the Most High, that without
delay they may draw His mercy down upon us; take hold of "the dragon, the old serpent, which is the
devil and Satan", bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit "so that he may no longer seduce the
nations" (Apoc. XX, 2.)
EXORCISM
In the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate
Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul
and all the Saints, (and powerful in the holy authority of our ministry), we confidently undertake to
repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.
PSALM 67: God arises; His enemies are scattered and those who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is
driven away, so are they driven; as wax melts before the fire, so the wicked perish at the presence of
God.
V. Behold the Cross of the Lord, flee bands of enemies.
R. He has conquered, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the offspring of David.
V May thy mercy, Lord, decend upon us.
R. As great as our hope in Thee.
The crosses indicate a blessing to be given if a priest recites the Exorcism; if a lay person
recites it, they indicate the Sign of the Cross to be made silently by that person.
We drive you from us, whoever you may be, unclean spirits, all satanic powers, all infernal invaders, all
wicked legions, assemblies and sects; in the Name and by the power of Our Lord Jesus Christ, ς may
you be snatched away and driven from the Church of God and from the souls made to the image and
likeness of God and redeemed by the Precious Blood of the Divine Lamb. ς Most cunning serpent, you
shall no more dare to deceive the human race, persecute the Church, torment God's elect and sift them
as wheat. ς The Most High God commands you. ς He with whom, in your great insolence, you still
claim to be equal; "He who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (I
Tim., II, 4). God the Father commands you. ς God the Son commands you. ς God the Holy Ghost
commands you. ς Christ, God's Word made flesh, commands you; ς He who to save our race outdone
through your envy, "humbled Himself, becoming obedient even unto death" (Phil., 11, 8); He who has
built His Church on the firm rock and declared that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her,
because he will dwell with Her "all days even to the end of the world" (St. Mat., XXVIII, 20). The
sacred Sign of the Cross commands you, ς as does also the power of the mysteries of the Christian
Faith. ς The glorious Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, commands you; ς She who by her humility and
from the first moment of her Immaculate Conception, crushed your proud head. The faith of the Holy
Apostles Peter and Paul and of the other Apostles commands you. ς The blood of the Martyrs and the
pious intercession of all the Saints command you. ς
Thus, cursed dragon, and you, diabolical legions, we adjure you by the living God, ς by the true God, ς
by the holy God, ς by the God "who so loved the world that He gave up His only Son, that every soul
believing in Him might not perish but have life everlasting" (St. John, III); stop deceiving human
creatures and pouring out to them the poison of eternal damnation; stop harming the Church and
hindering her liberty. Begone, Satan, inventor and master of all deceit, enemy of man's salvation. Give
place to Christ in whom you have found none of your works; give place to the One, Holy, Catholic and
Apostolic Church acquired by Christ at the price of His Blood. Stoop beneath the all-powerful Hand of
God; tremble and flee when we invoke the Holy and terrible Name of Jesus, this Name which causes hell
to tremble, this Name to which the Virtues, Powers and Dominations of heaven are humbly submissive,
this Name which the Cherubim and Seraphim praise unceasingly repeating: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord,
the God of Armies.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
V. May the Lord be with thee.
R. And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
God of heaven, God of earth, God of Angels, God of Archangels, God of Patriarchs, God of Prophets, God of Apostles,
God of Martyrs, God of Confessors, God of Virgins, God who has power to give life after death and rest after work,
because there is no other God than Thee and there can be no other, for Thou art the Creator of all things, visible and
invisible, of whose reign there shall be no end, we humbly prostrate ourselves before Thy glorious Majesty and we beseech
Thee to deliver us by Thy power from all the tyranny of the infernal spirits, from their snares, their lies and their furious
wickedness; deign, O Lord, to grant us Thy powerful protection and to keep us safe and sound. We beseech Thee through
Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
V. From the snares of the devil,
R. Deliver us O Lord.
V. That Thy Church may serve Thee in peace and liberty,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
V. That Thou may crush down all enemies of Thy Church,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
(Holy water is sprinkled in the place where we may be).
In honour of Seraphim
Most glorious Prince of the heavenly army, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the fight against
princes and powers, rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits who permeate all spaces.
Come to the aid of mankind, whom God made to the image of His Own nature, and whom He dearly
bought back from the tyranny of the devil1. Amen.
Second day
In honour of Cherubim
St. Michael, Prince of the Army of angels, I call upon thee to grant my prayer. I beg Thee to take my
soul on the last day, under thy saintly protection and to lead it to the place of peace and rest where the
holy souls await in ineffable joy, the last judgement and the glory of the glorious resurrection. When I
speak or be silent, when I watch over, when I walk or rest, keep me in the pursuit of the fulfilment of all
my works, in all my doings throughout my life. Protect me from the temptations of the devil and the
pains of hell2. Amen.
Third day
In honour of Thrones
Great defender of Christian peoples, St. Michael the Archangel, to fulfil fittingly the mission that has
been assigned to thee to defend the Church, weed out heresies, wipe out schisms and overcome unbelief.
Multiply thy victories over infernal monsters who are determined to destroy our faith. May the Church
of Jesus Christ welcome new faithful and incorporate entire kingdoms so that she can people heaven
with elect souls, for the greater glory of the Divine Redeemer, to Whom thou owest thy triumphs, thy
merits, and thy eternal bliss3. Amen.
Fourth day
In honour of Dominations
Oh thou prince and standard bearer of the good angels, help me always in thy bounty, and save me.
From the legions of the angels of darkness preserve me, so that, under thy guidance, I can share the light
of the good angels. Before the throne of the Supreme Judge, be my advocate, plead my cause and quell
the anger of the Divine Justice. So that, through thee, my work, my rest, my days, and my nights be
given merit; that my thoughts may always be ready for the works of God4. Amen.
Fifth day
In honour of Powers
St. Michael the Archangel whom Holy Church venerates as her guardian and protector, to thee Our
Lord gave the honour of introducing redeemed souls into heavenly happiness. Pray that the God of
Peace will crush Satan under our feet, so that he can no longer retain men in his chains nor harass the
Church. Present to the Most High our prayers so that, without delay, the Lord will accord us mercy.
Thou Thyself seize the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and throw him bound into
the abyss, so that he will no longer lead nations into damnation5. Amen.
Sixth day
In honour of Virtues
St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle so that we will not perish on the day of dreadful
judgement. Glorious Prince, remember us and pray for us to the Son of God, everywhere and always.
When thou didst fight the dragon, we heard in heaven the voice of those who proclaimed, "Hail, honour
and glory to Almighty God!" The seas rose, the earth trembled, when thou camest down from heaven,
come to the aid of the people of God6. Amen.
Seventh day
In honour of Principalities
Oh, St. Michael, thrice holy Prince of the sacred army, charged by God to organise and lead angelic
columns, worthy of honour, of all praise, and of all esteem: clarify my inner thoughts; fortify my poor
heart, disturbed by the storms of this life, raise to the heights of celestial wisdom my mind so inclined
towards things of this world; guide my errant steps, do not allow me to wander from the path that leads
to heaven; heal the wounds of my soul; wipe out all traces of sufferings inflicted in me by my miseries
and my sorrows7. Amen.
Eighth day
In honour of Archangels
St. Michael Archangel, who is charged to gather our prayers, to lead our battles, and to weigh our souls,
I pay homage to thy beauty, to thy limitless power in favour of those who are devoted to thy will,
harmoniously united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the good of
mankind. Defend me against the enemies of my soul and of my body. Make me aware of the comfort of
thy invisible assistance and the effects of thy tender vigilance8. Amen.
Ninth day
In honour of Angels
Glorious St. Michael Archangel, great champion of the glory of God and protector of the universal
church, thou to whom the Almighty has given the mission of receiving the souls when they leave the
body, to present them to All-Just Judge; deign to protect me in my last battle. Accompanied by my
guardian angel, come to my aid, and drive away from me all evil spirits. Do not allow them to terrify me.
Strengthen me in my faith, hope and charity so that my soul, carried by thee to her Judge, may
immediately rest in peace, to reign eternally with her Redeemer, in the society of the blessed Spirits.
Amen.
N.B. Any novena to the Angels carries one plenary indulgence when the other ordinary conditions are
fulfilled on a particular day of the novena, or during the following eight days. (Pius IX, 26 Nov. 1876)
Orationes Ad Vestiendum
Collare
Subice me, Dómine, dulci jugo Tuo, dulcíque jugo Matris Tuæ Maríæ.
Subject me O Lord, to Thy sweet yoke, and to the sweet yoke of Thy Mother Mary.
Vestis Talaris
Dominus, pars haereditatis meae et calicis mei, Tu es qui restitues haereditatem meam mihi.
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my chalice. It is Thou who will restore my inheretance to
me.
Cingulum
Praecinge me, Domine, cingulo puritatis, et exstingue in lumbis meis humorem libidinis: ut maneat in
me semper virtus continentiae, et castitatis.
Girth me O Lord with the girdle of purity. and extingush in my loins the desire of lust: so that the virtue
of continece and chastity may ever abide within me
Act of Hope
O my God! Relying on Thy Infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of all my sins, the
help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.
Act of Charity
O my God! I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art All Good and
deserving of all love. I love my neighbour as my self for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured
me, and I ask pardon of all I have injured. Amen.
Act of Charity
Alphonsus Rodrigues S.J.
Lord take me off straight away before I offend Thee, because if my life is not to be of Thy service I
would have it no longer. Amen.
Learning Christ
Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life; in disappointments, in the
thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity of those I have trusted, in the faithfulness of those on whom
I relied. Let me put myself aside, to think of the happiness of others, to hide my little pains and
heartaches, so that I may be the only ones to suffer from them.
Teach me to profit from the suffering that comes across my path. Let me use it that it may mellow me,
not harden nor embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable; that it may make me broad in my
forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and overbearing. May no one be less good for having come within my
influence; no one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow-traveller in our
journey towards Eternal Life.
As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper from time to time, a word of love to
Thee. May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of
sanctity. Amen.
Prayer of Reparation
My Jesus, I adore Thee and love Thee with all my heart and all the hearts of my brothers and sisters of
the whole world.
I form in spirit, around Thee a great assembly of their hearts, and I love Thee with them.
I thank Thee, for myself, my family, and my brothers and my sisters of the whole world.
I ask Thy forgiveness, for myself my family, and brothers and sisters of the whole world.
I offer Thee all my sufferings, past, present and future, of my family, brothers and sisters of the whole
world; in union of the sorrows of the Sweet Virgin Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother and, our Mother, as
well as those of Thy Most Cruel Passion.
I form a spray of sufferings, that I offer Thee, O my Most Sweet Jesus, in reparations of all outrages,
sacrileges, blasphemies, indifference's and all the offences that Thou receivest at this moment.
Wilt Thou please offer this spray of sufferings to our Good Father, Who is in heaven, to appease His
anger, so justly aroused by our countless sins. Amen
Flos Carmeli
O beautiful Flower of Carmel; most Fruitful Vine, Splendour of Heaven, Holy and Singular; who
brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a pure virgin: assist me in this necessity, O Star of the
Sea, help and protect me! Show me that thou art my mother.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
Mother and Ornament of Carmel, pray for us.
Virgin, Flower of Carmel, pray for us.
Patroness of all who wear the Scapular, pray for us.
Hope of all who die wearing the Scapular, pray for us.
St. Joseph, friend of The Sacred Heart, pray for us.
St. Joseph, Chaste Spouse of The Virgin Mary, pray for us.
St. Joseph our Patron, pray for us.
Sweet Heart of Mary, be our salvation.
O Lord! Who hast said, "unless ye become as little children, ye shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven,"
grant us, we beseech Thee, so to follow in the footsteps of the virgin, St. Therese, in humility and
simplicity of heart, that we may attain to our eternal reward. Who livest and reignest, with God the
Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion*.
O my Jesus! I turn towards the Holy:-
-Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden-
-Monstrance where Thy sittest enthroned-
for the love of me. I can not receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into
my heart, sanctify it, purify it, render it like unto Thy Own.
Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and my soul shall be healed.
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;
For ever and ever. Amen.
O Jesus, may my heart and all the hearts of the world burn for the love of Thee. Amen.
I love Thee, Jesus, my love above all things. I am sorry for having offended Thee. Never permit me to
offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee, always, and then do with me what Thy wilt. Amen.
MASS INTENTIONS
Intentions for which this Mass is offered;
Sanctification and Intentions of:-
Priest, and those present.
Antiphon. Remember not, O Lord, our offences or those of our fathers; and take not vengeance for our
sins. (P.T. Alleluia.)
Kýrie eléison.
Christe eléison.
Kýrie eléison.
Our Father...
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil. Amen.
I said: Lord, have mercy upon me.
Heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee.
Turn Thou a little towards us, O Lord,
And be entreated for Thy servants.
Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
As We have hoped in Thee.
Let Thy priests be clothed with righteous,
And let Thy servants rejoice.
From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord,
And spare Thy servants from those of others.
Lord, hear my prayer,
And let my cry come unto Thee.
Let us pray
Most gracious God, listen in Thy loving kindness to our prayers and enlighten our hearts with the grace
of the Holy Ghost so that we may worthily celebrate Thy mysteries and love Thee with an everlasting
love.
O God, to whom every heart is open, ever desire is known and from Whom no secrets are hidden
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Ghost so that we may perfectly love
Thee and worthily praise Thy holy name.
Turn our, desires and hearts, Lord, with the fire of the Holy Ghost, so that we may serve Thee with a
chaste body and please Thee with a clean heart.
We pray Thee, Lord, that the Comforter Who proceeds from Thee may enlighten our minds and lead us
into all truth, as Thy Son has promised.
We pray Thee, Lord, that the strength of the Holy Ghost may be with us mercifully cleansing our hearts
and defending them from all harm.
O God, Thou taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Ghost; grant that in the same Spirit
we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Cleanse our hearts, we pray Thee, Lord, by Thy coming, so that our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, may
find within us a dwelling prepared for Him: who being God lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the
Holy Ghost, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Acts of Faith.
O my God, I firmly believe that by the words of consecration spoken during Mass, bread truly, becomes
the Body of Christ and wine the most Precious Blood, and that Thy Divine Son is offered to Thee upon
the altar under appearances resembling that separation of His Body and Blood which took place on
Calvary. Therefore, do I believe with my whole heart that this holy Victim is the same as that of the
Cross, whom I am about to receive in order to unite my sacrifices to His own, by immolating myself
with Him for Thy glory. Amen.
My God, I believe that I shall receive the Sacred Body and the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. I believe
this with all my heart. Amen.
Act of Hope.
O my God, I place all my hope in Jesus, my loving Saviour, truly present before me on the altar. He,
who on the cross offered to Thee the super-abundant merits of His divine Blood, shed for our sins. Do
Thou graciously except the offering, which I now make to Thee at the hands of Thou priests, of the
Holy victim who has reconciled us to Thee, and being fully appeased by Him, grant to my soul the
graces it needs in order to receive my Lord worthily and obtain through Him all the effects of Thy
fatherly goodness. Amen.
Act of Humility
My God, I confess that I am a poor sinner; I am not worthy on account of my sins, to receive the Body
and Blood of Jesus; Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof; say but the word,
and my soul shall be healed. Amen.
Acts of Contrition.
O my God, at the moment of receiving within myself the divine Victim of Calvary, I confess sincerely
before Thy infinite majesty and before the whole court of heaven that I have offended Thee by thought,
word and deed. By my sins I have contributed to the death of Jesus on the cross; but Thou have forgiven
me, washing my soul in the Blood of Thy Son and clothing it with the wedding garment of Thy grace. I
come, therefore, contrite and repentant, but with a heart overflowing with boundless gratitude, to the
holy table which Thou hast prepared for the prodigal child, who had abandoned Thee, and whom in Thy
goodness Thou would nourish with heavenly bread. Amen.
My God, I detest all the sins of my life. I am sorry for them because they have offended Thee, my God,
Who art so good. I resolve never to commit sin again. My good God, pity me, have mercy on me,
forgive me. Amen.
Adoro Te
1
O Godhead hid, devoutly I adore Thee,
Who truly art within the forms before me;
To Thee my heart I bow with bended knee,
As failing quite in contemplating Thee
2
Sight, touch, and taste in Thee are each deceived;
The ear alone most safely is believed.
I believe all the Son of God has spoken:
Than Truth’s own word there is no truer token.
3
God only on the Cross lay hid from view,
But here lies hid at once the manhood too:
And I, in both professing my belief,
Make the same prayer as the repentant thief.
4
Thy wounds as Thomas saw, I do not see;
Yet Thee confess my Lord and God to be.
Make me believe Thee ever more and more,
In Thee my hope, in Thee my love to store.
5
O Thou, memorial of our Lord’s own dying!
O living bread, to mortals life supplying!
Make Thou my soul henceforth on Thee to live;
Ever a taste of heavenly sweetness give.
6
O loving Pelican! O Jesu Lord!
Unclean I am, but cleanse me in Thy Blood:
Of which a single drop, for sinners spilt,
Can purge the entire world from all its guilt.
7
Jesu! Whom for the present veiled I see,
What I so thirst for, oh, vouchsafe to me:
That I may see Thy countenance unfolding,
And may be blest Thy glory in beholding. Amen.
O my God, help me to make a fervent Communion. Mary dearest mother, pray to Jesus for me. All ye
saints, who were great lovers of the Blessed Sacrament, help me now to prepare well to receive Jesus in
Holy Communion. Amen.
O Mary my Mother, give me Jesus, prepare my heart for his coming. (Repeat many times as you
approach the altar.)

AFTER MASS
Act of Faith
Jesus, I believe that I have received thy Sacred Body and Thy Precious Blood. Thou hast said it, and
Thy word is true. A hundred welcomes, Jesus. Amen.
Act of Adoration.
O Jesus, my God, my Creator, I adore Thee, because from Thy Hands I came and with Thee I am to be
happy for ever. A thousand welcomes, Jesus. Amen.
Act of Humility
O Jesus, Who am I that thou shouldst come to me? Who am I that my poor heart should speak to Thee?
O Lord, I am not worthy; make me less unworthy. A hundred thousand welcomes, Jesus. Amen.
Thanksgiving
My good Jesus I thank, Thee with all my heart. How good, how kind thou art to me, Sweet Jesus!
Praised be the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus who gave us the Most Holy Sacrament. O Mary, my Mother,
thank Jesus for coming to me this (morning/ afternoon/ evening) and welcome him into my soul. Amen.
Love
Sweet Jesus, I love Thee; I love Thee with all my heart. For Thou knowest that I love Thee, and wish to
love Thee daily more and more. Amen.
Offering
O Jesus, receive my poor offering; Jesus, thou hast given Thyself to me; now, let me give myself to
Thee. I give Thee my body, that it may be chaste and pure. I give Thee my soul, that it may be free from
sin. I give Thee my heart. that; it may always love Thee. I give Thee every breath that I shall breathe,
and especially my last; I give Thee myself in life and in death, that may be thine for ever and ever. Amen.
Obsecro Te
I beseech Thee, Most Sweet Lord Jesus Christ, grant that Thy Passion may be to me a power by which I
may be strengthened, protected and defended. May Thy wounds be to me food and drink, by which I
may be nourished, inebriated and overjoyed. May the sprinkling of Thy Blood be to me an absolution for
my sins. May Thy death be to me life everlasting, and Thy cross be to me an eternal glory. In these be
my refreshment, my joy, my preservation and sweetness of heart. Who livest and reignest world without
end. Amen.
Litany of Humility
Jesus meek and humble of heart, hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being honoured,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted,
Deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me Jesus.
An Oblation
Take, O Lord, into Thy hands my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my will. All that I
am, and have, Thou hast given me, and so I surrender them to Thee, to be so disposed in accordance
with Thy holy will.
Give me only Thy love and Thy grace, with these I am rich enough and desire nothing more. Amen.
An Act of Resignation
O Lord, my God, from this moment do I accept from Thy hands, with a quiet and trusting heart,
whatsoever death Thou shalt choose to send me, with all its pains and griefs. Amen.
Prayer of Perseverance
O supreme and eternal God, I thank Thee for creating me, redeeming me by Jesus Christ, making me a
Christian called to the true faith, and having waited for my repentance after so many sins.
O infinite Bounty, I love Thee above all things, and I repent with my whole heart for having offended
Thee. I have confidence that Thou hast already forgiven me, but being always in danger of again falling
into sin, I beg of Thee for the love of Jesus Christ, to grant me holy perseverance until death. Help me,
O Lord, for Thou knowest my weakness and suffer me not again to be separated from Thee, may I die a
thousand times rather than again have the misfortune of losing Thy grace. O Mary, my mother, obtain
for me holy perseverance.
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy
protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but graciously hear and answer me. Amen.

ST. Gerard Patron of a Good Confession, pray for souls over come by fear and shame; your prayers won
courage to confess sins wilfully concealed from the minister of God. Help me to make a good
confession. Help me to know my sins.
Obtain for me true sorrow for my sins, a firm purpose never to sin again. And when I kneel in the
Confessional be with me and help me to tell all my sins in spite of fear or shame. St. Gerard, in your
hands I place this Confession. Be to me what you were to many another poor soul, "an angel of God
sent to deliver me from hell." Amen.
Examination Of Conscience
Prayer of St. Alphonsus.
O God of Infinite Majesty, behold at the feet the traitor, who has again offended thee, but who now in all
humility asks; Thy pardon O Lord, reject me not. Thou canst not despise humble heart. I thank Thee for
having waited for me, for not having allowed me, to die when I was in sin and to be sent to Hell, as I
had deserved. The patience Thou hast shown towards me makes me hope that through the merits of
Jesus Christ Thou wilt pardon in this confession all my offences I repent of them because I have
deserved hell and I have lost heaven, I have displeased Thee Who art Infinite Goodness.
I love Thee O Sovereign Good and because I love Thee. I repent of all my offences against Thee. I have
turned my back upon Thee. I have despised thy grace, Thy friendship in a word. O Lord. I have wilfully
lost Thee. For the love of Jesus Christ: forgive me all my sins: I repent of them with my whole heart: I
hate. I detest them I abhor them more than all other evils. I repent not only of my mortal but venal sins
which likewise displease Thee. I purpose for the future, with the help of thy grace, never more wilfully
to offend Thee. My God, may I die rather than sin again. Amen.
ACT OF CONTRITION
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, but most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.
After Confession
Jesus. Mary and St. Gerard I thank you for my, good confession: help me to lead a better life in the in
the future Amen
Most Holy Virgin Mary assist me. You are the Mother of Perseverance: all my hope is in Thee; help me
to keep my resolutions. Amen.
Our Father. Hail Mary, for these intentions.

To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our tribulations and, whilst imploring the aid of thy
Most Holy Spouse, we confidently invoke thy patronage also. By that love which united thee to the
Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by the fatherly affection which thou didst embrace the Infant
Jesus, we humbly beseech thee graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by His
Blood, and to help us in our necessities by thy powerful intercession.
Protect, O most provident guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen children of Jesus Christ. Ward off
from us, O loving father, all taint of error and corruption. Graciously assist us from Heaven, O most
powerful protector, in our struggle with the powers of darkness and, as thou didst once rescue the Child
Jesus from imminent peril to His life, so now defend the Holy Church of God from the snares of her
enemies and from all adversity.
Shield each one of us with thy unceasing patronage that, imitating thy example and supported by thy aid,
we may be enabled to live a good life, die a happy death, and secure everlasting happiness in heaven.

Act of Consecration of the Society of St. Pius X to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Her Sorrowful
and Immaculate Heart.
(1984)
W e have recourse to Thee, O Immaculate Mother of God, in what is a tragic hour for men, and in
the midst of an unprecedented storm breaking upon the Church from top to bottom. How wouldst Thou,
who standing at the foot of the Cross, didst compassionate so intimately Thy divine Son in His
sufferings, not have compassion on His Mystical Body the Church in its Passion!
While without, Communism is spreading everywhere its errors — to the point of infecting the Church
with them — the venom of a false ecumenism is, within its very bosom, poisoning countless souls,
leading some astray and others now out of the unity of the true Faith and of the unique Ark of Salvation.
Amidst so many ruins and betrayals, it has pleased God to raise up, as of old, our Priestly Society as a
little army for reconstruction. But aware of its weakness, today it turns to Thee, Virgin Most Powerful,
Help of Christians. Before the immensity of our mission, distrusting our own strength, we want to place
ourselves under Thy maternal and powerful protection, O Virgin, terrible as an army in battle array,
Thou who didst receive from the beginning the promise of crushing the serpent's head. In the midst of
the dangers threatening us, we beg God to deign to confirm, by Thee, O Ark of the Covenant, our
vocation to serve His Church.
Therefore, O Immaculate Virgin, we prostrate ourselves today at the foot of Thy throne of grace and,
wanting to add to Thy praise and glory, in order to unite our little part to the filial love of Christ Thy
Son towards Thee, our sweetest Mother, we consecrate irrevocably to Thee, and most especially to Thy
Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, our Priestly Society of St. Pius X, its priests, seminarians and
Brothers; Sisters, Oblates and Third Order members; and all its spiritual family.
And so that henceforth Thou be the Sovereign of our Society, by an act of perpetual donation into Thy
hands, we offer and give Thee all our goods and our houses that Thou mayest be the true Mistress of
them; we deliver and consecrate to Thee our bodies and souls, our whole selves, that Thou dispose of us
according to Thy good pleasure. Those souls also confided to us do we deliver to Thee that Thou guard
them with Thy motherly protection; lastly we confide and abandon to Thee our apostolate, that
henceforth it be Thine, O Queen of Apostles!
Thus from now on our Society is Thy property; keep it so firmly, O Tower of David, that it never be able
to leave the right path. O Virgin Most Powerful, maintain each of its members unwaveringly attached to
it. Keep our faith virginal, O Virgin most Pure, who didst receive the power to crush all heresies in the
whole world! O Mary, full of grace, preserve in the Church the Sacrifice of the Mass in its ancient and
venerable grace-bearing Roman rite; and keep us faithful to it. O Queen of all saints, make priestly,
religious and domestic holiness blossom amongst us. O Mother of divine grace, keep our Society as a
fruitful and ever-living branch of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. O Mother of the Church, obtain for
us the grace of being ever more docile and apt instruments in the hands of God for the salvation of as
many souls as possible. And that we may recognise that Thou hast graciously heard our prayers, O
Virgin Most Merciful, send us many of those labourers that the divine Lord of the harvest is calling to
His harvest. Grant us lastly, O Mother of the Eternal High Priest, the grace to work for the restoration
of the Catholic priesthood and by it to magnifying the priestly soul of Jesus Christ which will at last
bring about the establishment of His reign over individuals, families and States.
Confident in our title of Apostles of Jesus and Mary, we promise Thee, O Queen of martyrs and
confessors to work until our last breath for the restoration of all things in Christ, for the spreading of His
Kingdom, and for the glorious triumph of Thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Mary.. Amen.

Act of Contrition.
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Savour, Jesus Christ, and most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.
O Mary my Mother and my Queen, keep me ever loyal to Jesus Christ, my Lord, my Redeemer and my
King. Amen.
Spiritual Communion.
O my Jesus! I turn towards the Holy Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden for the love of me. I can not
receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into my heart, sanctify it, purify it,
render it like unto Thy Own.
Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and my soul shall be healed.
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;
Amen.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Amen.
These prayers may be said as a private novena or at the beginning of each day in the classroom.
2. Prepare a "throne" or shrine in the front of each classroom with the help of the students. Decorate it
as beautifully as possible with flowers and candles. The more elaborate it is, the more honour is given to
the King of Love and the greater is the impression on the children. If the ceremony begins in the church,
decorate the Sacred Heart altar as richly as possible; if there is no Sacred Heart altar, set up a statue in
the sanctuary on the Gospel side with flowers and lights. If the ceremony starts in the auditorium,
prepare a beautiful shrine in the centre of the stage. If there is a Sacred Heart statue or picture in some
central point of the school where the Act of Consecration is read, decorate that one too.
3. Encourage the students to purchase their own pictures or statues out of their "sacrifice" money. We
recommend the use of the all-metal Sacred Heart shrine for the classroom as it makes a splendid throne
with vigil light; or the official picture, "Jesus, King of Love," which can be purchased framed or
unframed at very low cost. This picture is ideal for the Enthronement as it symbolises the kingship of the
Sacred Heart.
4. If possible begin the day with attendance at Holy Mass. Try to have this Mass offered for the honour
and glory of the Sacred Heart and suggest that the students contribute their pennies for the stipend. Ask
them to receive Communion in reparation to the Sacred Heart for those students who do not love Him.
5. Place the pictures or statues for each room upright in the sanctuary (or on the auditorium stage),
facing the students, in front of the Sacred Heart shrine. Have holy water nearby for the blessing.
6. Appoint a picture-bearer from each room, together with two escorts. Appoint a cross-bearer and two
candle-bearers for the procession. Appoint two acolytes to accompany the priest.
7. Prepare Sacred Heart hymns to last during the procession.
Note: We suggest the following impressive practice: Appoint 12 children to carry red roses (or vigil
lights), symbolising the 12 promises. At some time during the ceremony (before leaving the church or
auditorium, or at the main statue in the school) the priest will say a word about the importance of the
promises and then announce each promise in turn, as the promise is named, the students will say: "We
believe in Thy promises, O Sacred Heart!" The student representing that promise then places the rose
or vigil light at the feet of the Sacred Heart.
THE CEREMONY
Assembly in church or auditorium (or in other place if necessary).
(Stand) Singing of 2 hymns.
(Stand) Blessing of the Statues or pictures by the pictures by the priest.
(Stand) Recitation of the Apostles' Creed by all as an act of faith and reparation for schools that exclude
the truths of our Faith.
(Sit) Talk by the priest on the meaning of the Enthronement—what the Sacred Heart expects from the
children (prayers, sacrifices, and love for the Eucharist)—urging them to be apostles of the
Enthronement in their own homes.
(All stand) Procession. Cross-bearer and candle-bearers go to rear of church, to lead procession.
Picture-bearers come to front and receive picture from priest. As they return to the aisle, the escorts take
their place on either side. In the meantime, a Sacred Heart hymn is started. (Try to keep the singing
continuously during the procession, in order to maintain the interest of the students.) When all is ready
the children file out of their places and follow the cross-bearer. The picture-bearers may accompany their
own classmates, or may follow them, just before the priest or in front of the sisters. The procession
proceeds to the main statue. If the 12 roses are carried, the bearers could precede the priest.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, * who told St. Margaret Mary about Thy desire to rule over the entire
world, * we have come here today to tell Thee publicly * that Thou art the only King of our school. *
From now on we resolve to study out of love for Thee * and to be everything Thou dost want us to be *
as children of Thy Sacred Heart.
Thou will be King of our minds by our faith in all Thy teachings. * Thou wilt be King of our
hearts by our unselfish love for Thee * and we will keep this love burning in our hearts * by frequent
attendance at Mass, * by receiving Thee often in Holy Communion, * and by visiting Thee in the Blessed
Sacrament.
We ask Thee, O Sacred Heart, to watch over and bless our studies: * to sanctify our joys and
soothe our sorrows. * If any of us should ever have the unhappiness of hurting Thee by sin, * remind
them of Thy goodness and mercy toward Thy repentant children.
We also promise Thee, O Jesus, always to be faithful to Thy commandments, * to obey our
parents and our teachers, * to be always pure in thought, word and deed, * at home, in school and at
play. * By our purity we will console Thy Heart and the Heart of Thy Mother * for so many students
who offend Thee by sin.
And now we ask the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Fatima, * and St. Joseph, faithful
friend of the Sacred Heart, * to present to Thee this our Act of Consecration * and to remind us of it
every day of our lives!
Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father!
8. One Our Father and Hail Mary for absent students, living and dead, for former students, for the sick,
for all their families, etc. Students may now present their personal petitions.
9. At this point the Prayer of Thanksgiving is said, or the priest may read the 12 promises. After each
promise the children say:
We believe in Thy promises, O Sacred Heart!"
If the 12 roses or vigil lights have been carried in procession, they should be placed at the feet of the
statue after the naming of each promise.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Note: A Litany of Thanksgiving may be substituted for this prayer, if so desired. Encourage the
students to contribute their ideas. If the prayer is used, it may be dialogued by the various grades.
We thank Thee, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, * for Thy goodness and mercy * in having chosen our
school from among so many others, * as a place where Thou art honoured as King * and where Thou
art loved as a Friend. * We are grateful for the great happiness Thou hast given to us * by coming to our
school, * to watch over our studies * and to share in our work, our sorrows and even our joys.
In gratitude for this great honour, * which we do not deserve, * we promise Thee to try each day
to know Thee better, * to love Thee more fervently * and to obey Thee more faithfully.
We ask the Immaculate Heart of Mary * to help us show our gratitude to Thee * for all Thou
hast done for us, * not only today but every day of our lives. * And to make sure that everything we say
or do will be pleasing to Thee, * we consecrate once more our bodies and souls, * our words and our
deeds, to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Thy Mother and our Mother.
Once more we thank Thee, dear Jesus, * for the wonderful gifts Thou hast showered upon us: *
the gift of our faith and the sacraments, * our parents, our priests, * (our sisters) and teachers, * but
especially for the three great gifts of Thy loving Heart to Thy Church and Thy children: * the gift of
knowing and loving Thy Father; * the gift of Thyself in the crib, on the cross and on the altar, * and the
gift of the Holy Ghost. * We thank Thee now with all our hearts * and we ask Thee to help us to remain
faithful to Thee here below * so that our entire school can thank Thee for all eternity * together with our
Blessed Mother, St. Joseph * and all the angels and saints in our heavenly home. * Amen.
10. (Stand) Hail, Holy Queen in honour of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in reparation for sins of
impurity.
11. Prayers
Priest : All :
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Thy kingdom come!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our hearts!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our schools!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our homes!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of Australia!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary Pray for us!
St. Joseph Pray for us!
St. Margaret Mary Pray for us!
St. Pius X Pray for us!
12. Hymn to the Sacred Heart and procession to the rooms. The cross-bearer and candle-bearers
conduct priest and two acolytes to the first room. In the meantime, the other students could be singing
hymns, saying the Litany of the Sacred Heart, or the Rosary while waiting for the priest to arrive. If
there are many rooms, two or more priests could visit the rooms.
Important: Do not allow the picture or statue to be placed on the throne until the priest arrives. The
following procedure is observed: the priest might first remind the students that the Sacred Heart wants
to be King of their room as well as of the whole school. Then he asks the teacher to place the image on
the throne. Next, everyone kneels and recites the short Act of Consecration of the room to the Sacred
Heart. Then the certificate is signed by a student, the teacher and the priest. The priest then gives his
blessing and moves on to the next room.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, * we the pupils of (the grade_______ class or room) * are gathered
here to tell Thee * that Thou art the King of our hearts. * Other boys and girls may not love Thee, * but
we want to tell Thee that we really love Thee * and we want Thee to be our King of Love.
We promise Thee today, * in the presence of our guardian angels, * that because of our love for
Thee * we will not be afraid to make sacrifices for Thee; * and especially do we promise to be always
very obedient to our teachers and our parents, * who work so hard for us, * as Thou wast obedient to
Thy parents * when Thou wast a boy at Nazareth.
We also promise Thee * that we will try to be Thy missionaries, * especially in our homes, * and
we will try to save many souls for Thee * by our prayers, sacrifices, Masses * (Holy Communions) and
visits the Blessed Sacrament.
In return, dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, * we ask Thee to bless our Holy Father the Pope, * our
bishops, our priests, our teachers, * our relatives, our friends, our enemies * and all poor sinners. * But
especially we ask Thee to bless us, Thy faithful friends, * and make us love Thee more and more.
ALL
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus we love Thee!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Thy kingdom come!
Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us!
St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart pray for us.
Note: For Grades 1 to 3 inclusive, the above aspirations may be substituted for the Act of Consecration.
13. The ceremony terminates in one or two ways: It may end in the classroom or the students may
return to the church for Benediction.
Note: We cannot stress too strongly the importance of the procession and the Enthronement ceremony
in each room. The impression made on the children will be more lasting, and at the same time a
splendid opportunity for follow-up is given to the teacher in charge of each room.
The Enthronement should be an outstanding event in the life of the parish. Children should be impressed
with this idea, and perhaps a procession in the church could be arranged, for greater solemnity, in which
an image of the Sacred Heart is carried and hymns sung.
Note: The parish Enthronement does not take the place of the Enthronement in the home.
THE CEREMONY
A. PREPARATION
If there is a statue of the Sacred Heart in the sanctuary or on a side altar, it should be decorated as
beautifully as possible with flowers and lighted candles. If there is no statue, a large picture of the
Sacred Heart may be set up in the sanctuary or on side altar. A prie-dieu is placed in front of the statue.
B. CEREMONIAL
While the congregation sings a hymn to the Sacred Heart, the clergy, preceded by the cross-bearer and
two acolytes carrying lighted candles, proceed to the sanctuary. After the procession (if held) the pastor
(or other priest) goes to the statue, preceded by the cross-bearer, etc. Another priest mounts the pulpit
and announces and explains the steps in the ceremony.
Blessing of the statue. (All stand)
Apostles' Creed, as an act of faith, by congregation. (Stand)
Address by the priest on the significance of the Enthronement. (All sit)
Act of Consecration. (All kneel)
ACT OF CONSECRATION
(Recited by the parish priests)
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is our privilege, as shepherds of this parish, to consecrate to Thee our entire
flock.
We begin with the clergy of this parish, whom Thou hast chosen to continue Thy mission of teaching,
governing and sanctifying the faithful. In consecrating ourselves to Thee we wish to enter into the spirit
of expiation and reparation which characterised Thee, the eternal High Priest, and Redeemer of men;
and which has characterised every true pastor of souls, so that like Thee they are willing to give their life
for their sheep. It shall be our constant endeavour to preach the compassion, the mercy and the glory of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus to our people, to lead them to the fountains of living water in the Holy
Eucharist, to kindle in their hearts the burning desire to spread Thy kingdom, and to unite their sacrifice
and sorrows with Thine in reparation for their sins and the sins of others.
We consecrate to Thy loving Heart the religious of this parish, to whose care are entrusted in a special
way the lambs of the flock. They have long since renounced the world, the flesh, and the devil, that they
might serve Thee with all their hearts. This consecration of their lives they repeat today, firmly
determined by word and example to turn the eyes and the hearts of our children to Thee, the true Friend
and Protector of youth.
We consecrate to Thee the fathers and mothers of this parish, the creators of our families and the
founders of our homes. It is our hope that they will enthrone Thee as the Head of their family, whose
divine authority they will always respect, whose law they will observe and under whose powerful
protection they will find, amid a world of difficulties and trials, that security and peace which Thou alone
canst give.
We consecrate to Thee the youth of this parish, whose inexperience and buoyant spirits make them
an easy prey to the fascinations and the allurements of the world. May they, illuminated by Thy light, see
with a clearer vision the wisdom of Thy ways, rather than by the light of bitter experience and remorse.
(And then, that no one be forgotten, we consecrate to Thee the members of this parish who are serving
in the armed forces of our country. Grant them all the graces they need to serve Thee faithfully amid the
dangers of soul and body, and keep them ever close to Thy Sacred Heart.)
Lastly, we consecrate to Thee the lost sheep of the flock who have wandered from their Father's house.
Pour out upon them the torrents of Thy mercy and grace, that in Thy Heart, always burning with charity,
they may find a saving refuge.
And now, dear Lord, on this memorable occasion, bless our parish, watch over it with Thy loving care,
and make this church a favoured sanctuary in which Thou will dispense with a lavish hand the spiritual
treasures which enrich and gladden the hearts of men. We beg it of Thee in the name of Thy Blessed
Mother, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the friend and patroness of the homes of this parish. Amen.
Our Father and Hail Mary for absent parishioners, living and dead.
Benediction or Mass.
THE CEREMONY
1. All gather around the "throne" of the King; father, mother, and children nearest to the priest - who
stands facing the picture of the Sacred Heart.
2. Priest, in surplice and white stole, blesses the picture or statue.
ACT OF CONSECRATION OF
THE FAMILY TO THE SACRED HEART
Come, then Lord Jesus, come, * for here as at Nazareth, * we have a tender love * for the Virgin Mary
* Thy sweet Mother * Whom Thou has given us to be our Mother. * Come, * to fill with Thy sweet
presence * the vacancies * which misfortune and death * have wrought in our midst.
O most faithful Friend, * hadst Thou been here * in the midst of sorrow, * our tears would have been
less bitter; * the comforting balm of peace * would then have soothed these hidden wounds, * which are
known to Thee alone. * Come, for even now perhaps, * there is drawing near for us * the twilight of
tribulation, * and the decline of the passing days * of our youth and our illusions. * Stay with us, * for
already it is late, * and a perverted world * seeks to envelop us * in the darkness of its denials * while
we wish to adhere to Thee * Who alone art the Way * the Truth * and the Life. * Repeat for us those
words * Thou didst utter of old * "This day I must abide in this home."
Yes, dear Lord, * take up Thy abode with us, * so that we may live in Thy love * and in Thy presence, *
we who proclaim Thee as our King * and wish no other: * May Thy triumphant Heart, O Jesus, * be
forever loved, * blessed, * and glorified * in this home! * Thy Kingdom Come! Amen.
9. As an act of homage to the Immaculate Heart of Mary all stand and recite the HAIL HOLY QUEEN.
10. EJACULATIONS:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us! (3 times)
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us.
St. Joseph, Pray for us.
St. Margaret Mary, Pray for us.
(ALL) Glory to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus forever and ever! Amen.
11. The priest gives his blessing:
Benedictio Dei omnipotentis, Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, descendat super vos et maneat semper.
Amen. (May the blessing of Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, descend upon you and remain
forever. Amen.)
12. Then the members of the family and the priest sign the Certificate of the Enthronement, which
should be framed and hung near the picture of the Sacred Heart or kept in the family archives. At this
point a hymn to the Sacred Heart may be sung.
13. The Priest, or the father, announces the following indulgences to be gained by the members of the
family (Raccolta 1943).
1. An indulgence of 7 years for all the members of the family who, at least contrite of heart assist at the ceremony of the
Enthronement in their home.
2. An indulgence of 3 years, once a year, on the day they renew the official act of consecration before the likeness of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus.
NOTE: There is no more appropriate way for a young couple to begin their married life, than to
enthrone the Sacred Heart in their new home.
