Goal:
 Your task is to propose a new exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural
History.
 Your goal is to convince the museum’s head curator why this new exhibit needs to be
created for the new dinosaur.
 The problem or challenge is convincing the head curator of the museum the importance
of the fossil you found from a new species of dinosaur.
 The obstacles to overcome are educating the head curator about the new species of
dinosaur, what the fossil(s) tell us about the dinosaur and why the exhibit is necessary.

Role:
 You are a paleontologist that works at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural
History
 You have been asked to create a proposal for a new exhibit on a fossil you uncovered of a
newly discovered dinosaur.
 Your job is to create a proposal board for a new exhibit at the museum.

Audience:
 Your clients are the head curator of the museum
 The target audience is
 You need to convince the head curator of the importance of this new exhibit on this
newly discovered dinosaur.

Situation:
 The context you find yourself in is you must convince the head curator why this exhibit
needs to be created.
 The challenge involves dealing with a head curator that is content with the current
exhibits at the museum and does not want change to be made to any existing exhibition
rooms of the museum.

Product Performance and Purpose:


 You will create a fossil for a new species of dinosaur in order to show how unique this
new breed of dinosaur is to the head curator.
 You need to develop a poster board proposal so that you can convince the head curator
why a new exhibit should be created based on this new species of dinosaur’s fossil.

Standards and Criteria for Success:


 Your performance needs to reflect your knowledge on
 Your work will be judged by your teacher.
 Your product must meet the following standards: Explain the new species of dinosaur
that your fossil is from. Create a persuasive board as to why your dinosaur’s fossil is
unique and why it needs to be exhibited.
