II. Learning objectives
 Use bar models to solve two-step addition and subtraction problems
 Apply the inverse operations of addition and subtraction
III. Learning Activities
Purpose : 1. Pupils can solve two-step problem: Addition and Subtraction
2. Pupils can solve mathematical story two-step problems
1. Introduction:
 Teacher greet the pupils
 Teacher introduces himself to pupils
 Teacher explains the lesson that is going to be studied
2. Whilst-Teaching:
 Teacher asks pupils to tell three different two-digit numbers. Add the two
larger number. Then, subtract the smallest number from the value found
earlier.
For example, if the numbers are 32, 98 and 56:
98 + 56 = 154
154 – 32 = 122
Repeat the exercise using different numbers.
 Teacher draw pupils attention to page 1 of workbook. Read the story
given in the problem.
 Teacher gives a sample solution for working on practice questions in the
workbook

Purpose : 1. Pupils can illustrate the two-step story problem by drawing a bar
models
1. Introduction:
 Teacher asks the students to collect the homework that has been given
 Teacher checks Pupil’s homework and explains the correct solution
2. Whilst-Teaching:
 Teacher draw Pupils attention to page 3 of workbook 2B and read the
story problem given
 Teacher explained that two-step problems are easier to solve if using a
bar model
 Teacher draw the bar model to illustrate the part-whole relationship
described in the question
 Teacher lead pupils to compare the lengths of bar models for boys and
girls. Then Ask: Which bar should be longer? (Girls) why? (Girls is more
than boys)
 Teacher asks Pupils to make mathematical equations to solve the
problem of the model that has been drawn:
