highlighted equity-based concepts such as the primacy of race/ethnicity
in America, understanding privilege and marginalization, achievement
gaps versus opportunity gaps, common explanations of achievement

modules served the dual purpose of reducing the number of
suspensions by providing schools a mechanism to investigate and
implement the alternatives to suspensions advanced by Dr. Skiba and
the Equity Project, while also reducing disparities in exclusionary
practices by helping staff understand the concepts of implicit racial bias
and institutionalized racism, and the impact they have on ones’
conscious and unconscious actions.
