Saving the planet is everyone’s responsibility.

Climate change is a reality, and disposable

packaging is becoming ever more present in our society. Everything comes in packaging: food,
clothes, toys, and furniture. What we need to do is make sure our packaging is eco-friendly. The
more a packaging is lightweight, durable and produced with minimal paper usage and
environmental resources, the more it can be called ecofriendly packaging and it is close to the
optimum sought. An optimized packaging, which reduces the waste and manufacturing
material, brings to enormous benefits to the environment. That’s because disposal and recycling
are simplified, the use of environmental resources is optimized and the production waste is
minimized.

Green packaging employs environmentally sensitive methods as a massive amount of energy is

used up in the production of traditional packaging materials like plastic, paper, and cardboard.
Usually, the source of the energy is fossil fuels that contribute millions of tons of carbon dioxide
and methane into the atmosphere while the waste packaging material ends up in landfills or
water bodies. (Vigar‐Ellis, 2014)
Eco-friendly packaging is made from recycled or reused materials, which decompose in an
environmentally friendly way. This type of packaging has less negative impact on the
environment than other types of manufacturing. Eco-friendly packaging means lower CO₂
emissions. Likewise, eco-friendly packaging is also biodegradable, which means it decomposes
using bacteria or living organisms, causing no pollution. (Nordin, 2010)
A company’s skill to grow and develop depends also on the ability to adapt the demands of an
ever greater eco-sustainability and environmental care. It is a huge challenge and in the packaging
industry, this challenge means to create an optimal packaging. Achieving this is possible only by
reducing the amount of waste derived from manufacturing, facilitating the disposal of the
packaging and increasing the efficiency.
Eco-friendly packaging is a recent phenomenon which has become a rapidly growing trend. By
shifting to green materials we can meet or anticipate our customer’s demands for eco-friendly
suppliers. According to a recent study, 73% of people reported that their companies give extra
attention and importance to packaging sustainability as lighter packaging reduces the packaging
and transporting costs.

The environment will not be the only one which can gain advantages from an eco-friendly
packaging, but companies and consumers too. This advantages can be simplified in:

 Savings in manufacturing costs due to the use of recycled material, in small quantities and with
the maximum saving of paper. This savings will also affect the final price of the product for
consumers;
 The company identity will rack up, embodying the ideal ecological environment to the
consumers;
 Great marketing arguments to use against the competition, because if you are a company
focused on ecology, showing it against those who are not yet updated, can lead you to good
results;

Advantages of Green Packaging

1. REDUCES YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Eco-friendly packaging is better for the environment as it is made of recycled waste material
which reduces the consumption of resources. Don’t focus only on your financial goals only but
try to meet your environmental goals as well.
2. EASY DISPOSAL
The type of packaging you use may vary but it should either be compostable or recyclable. If
some of your customers or co-workers happen to have compost facilities, then you can turn the
waste packaging into compost. If the packaging is clearly labeled recyclable packaging, then it
can be thrown into your recycling bin for re-use.
3. BIODEGRADABLE
Green packaging not only reduces your carbon footprint and environmental impact but is also
beneficial after it has served its purpose as the packaging materials are biodegradable.
4. VERSATILE AND FLEXIBLE
Eco-friendly packaging is pretty versatile and can be re-used and re-purposed in most major
industries that involve packaging. Whatever you are looking to package right from meats to
electronic devices, there will be an eco-friendly type of packaging that will meet their needs
and reduce costs.
5. IMPROVES YOUR BRAND IMAGE
Eco-friendly packaging creates a good impression of your company as this displays that you care
about the environment as well as depicting that you are a responsible company. A recent study
discovered that 78% of customers between the ages of 18-72 felt more positive about a
product whose packaging was made up of recycled items.
6. NO HARMFUL PLASTICS
Traditional packaging methods and materials contribute to global warming and other
environmental issues. Using eco-friendly packaging allows you to reduce the amount of plastic
that you use. Using non- sustainable petrochemical resources which are a part of all traditional
plastics requires a lot of energy. Petrochemical products usually tend to litter public places and
have been linked with health problems when used with food.
7. REDUCING SHIPPING COSTS
Reducing your shipping costs reduces the amount of raw materials that are used to package the
products and less packing materials leads to less effort being expended.
8. CAN HELP SAVE MONEY
Paper shredders are a great way to properly discard of any waste packaging, making it easier
for the packaging to bio-degrade much faster. Industrial shredders are a great option if you are
looking to shred high volumes of your waste packaging fast.
9. EXPANDS YOUR CUSTOMER BASE
The demand for sustainable eco-friendly products grows everyday according to several global
studies. All adults who were born after 1990 prefer to go eco-friendly and sustainability when it
comes to making their buying decisions. Going green will attract more customers that will keep
on returning depending on your attitude to the environment.
10. IT CAN BE REDUCED, REUSED AND RECYCLED SUSTAINABLY
Most of the materials can be categorized in the 3 basic R’s of sustainability.
 Reduce: This focuses on using thinner and tougher materials which can do the same job
with fewer materials.
 Reuse: There are a lot more products available that encourage their reuse such as boxes
with a special coating to make them tougher. You can use the economics of taking
advantage of reuse capabilities.
 Recycle: A lot more products are being manufactured with a larger percentage of them
being made up of recycled materials which can be recycled easily as well and have been
labeled as such. Most manufacturers do this as it allows them to minimize the impact of
price increases on new or virgin materials.

Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we
live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. We must act fast as the
amount of waste we create is increasing all the time.

Recycling is essential to cities around the world and to the people living in them.

 No space for waste. Our landfill sites are filling up fast, by 2010, almost all landfills in the
UK will be full.
 Reduce financial expenditure in the economy. Making products from raw materials costs
much more than if they were made from recycled products.
 Preserve natural resources for future generations. Recycling reduces the need for raw
materials; it also uses less energy, therefore preserving natural resources for the future

Unsustainable packaging can be detrimental to a company’s sustainability reputation.

Packaging is the first thing that consumers see and can influence their buying behavior.
Unsustainable packaging can make environmentally-conscious consumers decide against even
the most sustainable products.
Companies need raw materials in order to produce goods and services. Factories need clean
water to operate and, to thrive, farms need arable land to till. Given their resource-intensive
nature, conventional packaging materials are known to rapidly deplete natural resources. This
depletion results in fewer raw materials for future products and services. (LiseMagnier, 2015)
Since sustainable packaging conserves natural resources, it ensures more raw materials for
future products and services, leading to improved business continuity and a sustainable
business.
Sustainable packaging minimizes exposure to potentially toxic and hazardous chemicals.
ConAgra Foods, Inc. announced in July 2015 that its US and Canada facilities are no longer using
BPA-lined cans . Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical that is used in manufacturing polycarbonate
plastics (water and infant bottles, medical devices, CDs) and epoxy resins (bottle tops, food cans
and water supply pipes). Studies show that human exposure to BPA increases the risk of heart
disease, diabetes, miscarriage, breast and prostate cancer, and psychological disorders in
children . (Chelsea M. Rochman, 2013)
Packaging crates made out of agricultural waste (rice hull, corn fiber, straw, etc.) are safer than
Styrofoam crates. Food packaging made from unbleached natural paper offers reduced
exposure to bleach, inks and dyes. Healthy and safe workers and consumers equate to greater
profitability, with reduced work-related illnesses and injuries, and greater customer loyalty
Till now we have just taken the things form the earth now it is the time to give it back and there
would be a time when giving back would not help us so let us reduce the usage of non-
biodegradable products and support the Eco-friendly living, buy natural products for a better
tomorrow. So we have started our business in environment friendly packaging, so our company
design environment friendly packaging that not only beneficial for the earth but also effective
and efficient for the human as well as for the marine life. That packaging is eco-friendly,
biodegradable and organic. Such packaging can be decomposing and turn into nutrients. It
would not take as long as conventional plastic would take time to decompose. Our packaging
includes boxes, shopping bags, papers and much more.
We also developed the custom made packaging. We take natural resources and utilizes them
and after usage that resources have gone back to the world. We use corns, wheat, bamboos,
starch and much more. Our products are cost effective and are entirely made according to
consumer’s needs. Our products are recyclable and decomposable.
