Peace Council Meeting Minutes Wednesday, February 11, 2019; 6:30 pm

Present: Joyce Hanson, Gaylene Hanson, Lexi Danner, Jon Danner, Todd Schneeberger, Bob
Shervey, Terry Lien, and Tami Weigel, Treasurer. Guest: Jeff Dreier, Call Committee Chair. Absent:
Kim Lang

Meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm.

Devotions were given by Pastor Denise Croskey.

New members Terry Lien and Jon Danner were welcomed to Peace Church Council.

Pastor’s Report: Pastor Denise discussed what was needed for our Baked Potato Buffet to be held
Sunday, February 17th after church services. She suggested there be a break between her last service
and our new Pastor’s service with John Zdrazil being the supply pastor. An emergency safety drill will
be implemented at Peace Church. Jon Danner will investigate what a presentation should look like.

Jeff Dreier reported that a background check is in the process for our prospective Pastor, Eliza
Johnson. Once this is done, we can announce a congregational meeting to accept Eliza as our new
pastor. This announcement needs to be made two consecutive weeks before the vote.

Jeff explained that there are three investors who will be purchasing the Randy Muchow house and
renovating as needed. The housing allowance may increase by $2,800.00-if a parsonage arrangement
is not acceptable. Motion was made by Gaylene, seconded by Todd.

Joyce reported that attendance at Sunday school has decreased and asked for help decorating
Valentine cookies on February 10th.

Old Business:
~All council members were presented a copy of our Constitution. The last update was 2012 so they
may want to review it.
~We discussed an Appreciation Sunday for all volunteers to be held in May.

New Business:
~Sandy Perry has sent out applications for Berheim Scholarships.
~Youth Group will be helping serve at Lenten meals and during the Services.
Meal will be served from 5:30-6:30 pm and the services from 6:30-7:30 pm.
~It was announced that adults and children will be helping at Food for Kidz to be held in Wendell on
March 9th. We will investigate transportation options.

Election of Officers:
~Todd Schneeberger volunteered to take the President position.
~Gaylene Hanson volunteered to take the Vice President position.
~Joyce Hanson volunteered to take the Secretary position.
~Motion made by Jon, seconded by Lexi to accept the above slate of officers.

March’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 pm.

Motion made by Bob, seconded by Gaylene to adjourn at 7:45 pm.

best.

Our New Pastor is Eliza Johnson. She started on March 25th. Her phone number is

April 14th here at Peace. Welcome, Eliza.
 Our Ever-Blessed Quilters have been busy. Here is a picture some of the quilts they have
made and some of the ladies that worked on them. Thank you and good job!!!!

Well hello!
It’s taken awhile for me to finally get here, but we’ve made it! I’m here! And by the time you are
reading this, I will also officially be a pastor, your pastor at Peace Lutheran Church.
God has been working in Barrett, through this congregation, for many years. My role as your
pastor is to build relationships with you, to walk with you during life’s joys and sorrows, to
teach you, to learn from you, and to constantly remind you of God’s big promises to you
through Jesus. Being a pastor is certainly an odd job, but it’s also such an honor to be invited
into your lives in big and small ways every day. I’m so excited to learn who you are and witness
how God is moving in this community.
As I begin my pastoral ministry with you all, I want to get to know you! I am brainstorming
some meaningful ways to do this in the coming months (let’s get through our Easter
celebration)! But for now, please stop by church to introduce yourself ! Join us in worship on
Sundays or Wednesdays, let’s make a plan to have coffee or a meal in the coming weeks. I’m
excited to meet you and to get to know you better.
