Bowling Activities


1. Target Bowling


Instructions - Students stand opposite to their
partner 10 meters apart
- One students aim is to aim to
bowl at the wickets and hit
them, ensuring the ball bounces
once prior
- The other partner collects the
ball and uses an over arm throw
to get it back to their partner
- The pair swap roles


Variations and Extensions - Change distance between
students
- Add run up for more advanced
students


LEST Learners – Students stand in line with
the cones
Equipment – 1 wicket and ball per
group. 4 cones to set up box
Space – 10x10m box
Time – 10 minutes

2. Hoop Bowling


Instructions - Students are put into groups of
3-4
- 1 student is a wicket keeper and
the other 3 are bowlers
- The aim of the students is to
bowl towards the wickets and
bounce the ball once into the
hoop before hitting the stumps
- Rotate students from wicket
keeper to bowler


Variations and Extensions - Put hoop into a different spot to
change from a defensive to
offensive bowl
- Add run up


LEST Learners – Students stay in groups, set
up in cones
Equipment – 1 wicket, 1 hoop and 3
balls per group. 4 cones to set grid
Space – 15x15m box
Time – 15 minutes
