OBJECTIVE
To analyze and compare the Sonic elements and the visual
emotions that the 10 minute long climax clip from the 2003 move
Elephant by Sir Gus Van Sant protrudes from the perspective of an
active audience.
Representing the sonic
elements

Here I have tried to visually represent the sonic elements in the

given clip alongside a horzontal timeline while also empahsizing
on the intensity of the respective element.

To be noted that the brightness of each circle is directly

proportional to the intensity of the corresponding sonic element.

The graph above shows the variation in emotions during the same
timeline.
Unlike sound there are no universally agreed upon measurement
unit for quantifying emotions . Hence , for reference I've used the
scale derived from Dr Plutchik's theory of the wheel of emotions .

With that we get an array on emotions in hierarchy as follows

Fear>Trust>Joy>Anticipation>Anger>Disgust>Sadness>Surprise

Conclusion

Keeping the timeline constant and further comparing the data
from the two graphs we could argue that there definitely an
impact of sound on the percievers prespective of the visual
on screen . Thus the message being either amplified or
sometimes even given an entire different meaning.
