Important :

Ghost can be created only on non Raid PC’s. On RAID configuration we need to
disable RAID from bios & then proceed with Ghost procedure
For Disabling RAID please refer clean install procedure in NX Manual.

Creating Ghost of C: Drive

Reduce disk size of C partition

Before creating the backup, it is strongly advised to cleanup unneeded data on the C
partition. Typically, it is possible to reduce the disk size of the C partition to about 10
Gbytes or less: Follow this procedure:

1. Stop NX: Start Agfa  NX  Service  Stop NX (or Exit NX on CMS)


2. Remove old log files from C:\Agfa\Healthcare\Log

IMPORTANT:
ALL NX processes must be stopped now, including the NXWorkStationMonitor.exe
Go to the Windows task manager and check. You may kill manually the
NXWorkStationMonitor process in the Windows task manager.

3. Remove old restore points on C:


(1) Double click on My Computer – and right-click on HD Drive C: and select Properties
(2) Click <Disk Cleanup>

3) Wait until the system has done some calculations


4) Select tab More Options
5) In the Section System Restore click <Clean up…>

6) Click <Yes>:

7) Click <OK> to exit Disk Cleanup


8) Click <Yes>:

9) The clean up starts. This may take some time.


Ghost Procedure

Step 1: make a copy of the C partition on another partition (eg. D)

1) Insert the ‘Agfa System Recovery Tool’ CD into the CD/DVD drive
Restore Toolkit 1.2 can be used for all models till HP 8000 Elite,
For HP 8200 & 6200 onwards use New Norton ghost 11.5.
2) Restart the system
3) Press F12 (Dell PC’s) & F9 (HP PC’s) when the Dell / HP logo appears
and enter boot menu
4) Select CD/DVD ROM drive as your preferred boot location.
5) The DOS boot sequence starts, eventually the system presents a DOS dialog
box as a command window. You are asked to remove the CD from the tray. Do
this and then close the tray.
6) At the command prompt type Ghost
7) Click <OK> on the welcome screen.
8) Go to Local  Partition  To Image:

9) Select the first hard drive (in case of PC’s having 2 HDD):

10) Select the first partition:


11) The dialog ‘File name to copy image to’ appears:

12) In the drop down box, select the D partition. Drives and partitions are
indicated in this window by numbers: Eg. ‘1:2’ refers to the first hard disk,
second partition.

13) Open the folder where you want to copy the backup image to (On
D partition) and enter a file name eg. ‘backup NX’. Click <Save>.

13) Click <High>


14) Creation on image file starts :

After the creation of the image click Quit  Yes (to restart).
If the PC stops on a blank DOS screen showing R:\, restart the PC manually.
Recovering from a Ghost file

1) Insert the ‘Agfa System Recovery Tool’ CD into the CD/DVD drive

8) Go to LocalPartitionFrom Image.

9) The dialog Image file name to restore from pops up. In the drop down box,
select the volume where the image file(s) reside (D partition).
Drives and partitions are indicated in this window by numbers: Eg. ‘1:2’
refers to the first hard disk, second partition
10) Browse to the folder where the image files are located, select the ‘backup
NX.GHO’ file and click <Open>:

11) In the dialog ‘select source partition from image file’ select the highlighted
entry
12) The dialog ‘Select local destination drive…’ opens. Take the default ‘Drive
1’ and click <OK>.

13) The dialog ‘Select destination partition from Basic drive’ opens. Select the
first partition and click <OK>:

14) The unpacking of the compressed system image begins and the indicator
bar shows the current progress.

15) After the recovery procedure Quit Yes (to restart).


If the PC stops on a blank DOS screen showing R:\, restart the PC manually.
