I. General Program Information:

Program Title : Utilization of Research-Based Knowledge and Principles of Teaching


and Learning to Enhance Professional Practice.

Learning Area/Special Program Educational Research

Program Description: This is a 16- hour training to address the identified needs of
Teachers in utilizing Research-Based Knowledge and Principles of
Teaching and Learning to Enhance Professional Practice.
Duration: Two (2) Days
Management Level of Program School Level
Delivery Mode: Lecture, discussion, Simulation and Output Submission
Target Personnel: 15 teachers and 1 school head
Budget Requirements: P 6 000.00
(See attached for detailed breakdown of budget needed)

Rationale:

Teacher professional development is very important to ensure the


effectiveness of the instruction being offered by the department. Teacher training in the
use and application of research based knowledge and principles of teaching and learning
can be considered as key indicators to improve the performance of the pupils in terms of
acquiring knowledge and developing essential skills as part of their growth and
development. It is the responsibility of the teachers on how to integrate research results
in the curriculum to improve student performance.

In this connection, the School will conduct a 2 day-training on how to apply


and utilize research based knowledge and principles of teaching and teaching in their
daily lessons. This will enhance their pedagogical skills in delivering concepts and ideas to
improve teaching and learning process in general.

Objectives:

- Increases awareness on research based knowledge used to improve student learning.


- Enhance capability in utilizing principles of teaching and learning on classroom
situations.
- Developing ideas in integrating research results on classroom instruction
End of Program Outputs:

At the end of this training, teachers will be able to:

1. internalize the importance of research-based knowledge on classroom instruction.


2. know different procedures in conducting research activity to enhance and improve
teaching and learning process.
3. use and apply different principles of teaching and learning on classroom settings.
4. submit outputs

Expected Final Outcomes/Success Indicators:

The participants are expected to:

1. make simple research outputs on classroom management


2. generate important ideas and concept in utilizing research based knowledge and
principles of teaching and learning.
3. integrate research results and principles of learning in solving classroom problems.

Participants can be given a fun question to ask to set the tone and get the
conversation going, like
What’s the most wonderful thing that happened to you this week?
What is your favorite show/song,etc. these days?

Do a one round of kamustahan to clear the air.

Asking the participants to go through the activity cards exercise. Giving clear
instructions and that address questions/concerns/special contexts, etc. Announce

Periodically, remind them of the time left. (note: make sure that the time alloted
is enough. The time it takes to finish an activity card task may vary depending on
the complexity of the task.
Analysis All participants should get to participate, whether by doing a round of
insights/questions (if the group is small, meaning 10 or below) or by grouping
participants into small groups/pairs to allow everyone to speak.

B. Where can you use this in delivering lessons?
C. When is it most appropriate to use this?
Abstraction/ Present the power point to introduce the key understandings, skills and attitudes
Generalization developed on research based knowledge development which facilitates effective
teaching-learning process.

Allow a discussion of each presentation and direct the attention of the


participants on how to develop skills integrating research results in facilitating
classroom instruction.
Application Based on your curricular goals, identify a particular application of research based
knowledge skill.. Why is this an appropriate tool/strategy for your curricular
goals?

Concluding Activity End with a short review of the session and outline next steps (e.g. In the next
few days, please take the time to explore further other research facility that
enhances teaching-learning process.

educational principles make teachers more productive in delivering lessons daily.
Write a journal reflecting the many advantages of using principles of teaching
and learning supporting lessons daily.

Concluding Activity Ask the participants to:


Ask each group to generate suggestions on how to integrate educational
principles in the classrooms
End the session by reviewing the key understandings developed and by citing to
the school head/teacher his or her realization after the sessions ended.
Invite the participants to use principles of teaching and learning in their lessons in
a daily basis.
