Dear Human Resources:

I am interested in the position of 3rd Grade Teacher for the 2019/2020 School Year as posted on
the Arizona Education Employment Board. I have heard great things about the Higley School
District and would be proud to work in a District that boasts strong academics. My experiences
interning at Step Up Schools and ASU Poly Prep Academy, and my strong organization skills
make me the perfect candidate for the job.

In my second year at Arizona State University, I interned at Step Up Schools in Mesa as a part of
a University Service-Learning course. At Step Up Schools, I served in a combined 2nd and 3rd
grade classroom. My focus was on helping the students in the class who had low math and
reading scores. I identified three specific students by analyzing class data who could use the
most help. Throughout my time there, the students I helped improved both in their homework
and test scores. My experience working with low level students will make me a good asset at
Higley Unified School District as I can help keep the District at a high academic level.

The next year, I interned at ASU Poly Prep Academy in a 3rd grade classroom. Though I was in a
general classroom there, the Academy had a focus on STEM for all grade levels, which I was
able to help with. I planned multiple STEM lessons for the 3rd grade classroom. In addition to
STEM lessons, I taught Language Arts lessons with supervision from my mentor teacher. The
lessons that I planned and taught were met with positive response both from students and my
mentor teacher. My experience writing and teaching lessons makes me a good candidate for
the position of 3rd Grade Teacher because I am experienced with 3rd grade content and lessons.

My organization skills have proven helpful on multiple occasions. During my study at Arizona
State University, I implemented organization techniques to track my own grades and plan out
time to study and work. Using Microsoft Excel, I created a spreadsheet to calculate my final
grade based on what I expected to get on different weighted assignments. During my busiest
semester, I took 18 credit hours while working 20 hours a week outside school. By utilizing my
organization skills, I was able to maintain my 3.90 GPA through the semester. Managing my
time using organization skills is something that will help me in a teaching position with Higley
Unified School District.
I am looking forward to meeting for an interview for the position of 3 rd Grade Teacher as I am
sure that my organization skills and teaching experience will be valuable to Higley Unified
School District. Please contact me with any questions; you can email me at ebranam@asu.edu. I
have also included my resume which lists additional relevant skills and work experience. Thank
you for taking the time to review my qualifications.

Sincerely,

Emily K. Branam
