Sang Kiai is an Indonesian drama film in 2013 that takes the story of a

freedom fighter as well as one of the founders of Nahdlatul Ulama from Jombang,
East Java, namely Hadratussyaikh KH Hasyim Asyari.
The story of the film begins with the rejection of the Islamic community
with "Sikerei". Sikerei is a Japanese army ceremony to worship the Sun God
symbolized by bowing down like a bow movement. This was also opposed by
scholars including Hadratussyaikh KH. Hasyim As'ari. Until then the Japanese
army came to the Tebuireng hut to arrest the kyai by carrying firearms and almost
even burned the santri who were studying in that place. Hadratussyaikh does not
want to do sikerei because this is contrary to the religion of Islam and is also one
form of worship to other than Allah. Even Hadratussaykh explicitly states that
"Sikerei is haram".

Then the hadiths were brought by Japanese soldiers to be forced to sign an

agreement to conduct Sikerei. But Hadratussyaikh refused until he was tortured
until his hands bled. He also saw some Muslims who were tortured by Japanese
soldiers for refusing to do Sikerei.

because this film tells how a person is struggling to fight for something. from this
film I also get a lesson that to get a happiness we have to go through a very
difficult process and keep our commitment to what we have promised
