Abstract

The Philippines is now undergoing a crisis involving the rising prices of goods.

Prices of these essential goods are continuously rising but the wages of workers in the

Province of Bulacan are not. There is a huge difference between the minimum wage

of NCR and Region 3. As a result, workers in Balagtas, Bulacan have less capabilities

to provide for their family.

RA. 9727 otherwise known as the Wage Rationalization Act is responsible to

rationalize the fixing of the minimum wage throughout the country. Art 99 of the same

code state that minimum wage of agricultural and non agricultural workers in each

region of the country would be prescribe by the regional tripartite and productivity

boards.

This study aims to analyze the effects of Art 99 and determine whether it is

possible to amend the same Article and replace minimum wage with national wage.

It aims to improve the financial wellbeing of workers of Balagtas, Bulacan by giving

them the financial advantage that citizens of the NCR enjoy pertaining to the

difference of minimum wage between the different region when the costs of everyday

necessities are fundamentally the same.
