Highlights of October 28 Board Meeting

y Adopted amendments to PM 16.20, Wildlife Management Committee Charter, to change the name to Wildlife Committee and update
the charter to reflect the committee’s primary focus of educational programs, activities and materials. The committee will advise the
Board on the impact of wildlife on community health and safety. The Board also voted to retain the current committee membership.
y Denied the request of Zack and April Lowe to waive the annual tenant fee for their lot at 53 Woodlawn Drive.
y Approved the request of the Ad Hoc Community Fishing Pier Committee to establish the target completion date for the pier as May
14, 2011. Fundraising update: Bo’s Pier Group’s goal is at 102% of its goal, with $25,482 in donations. The Group will be happy to
continue accepting donations. Additional funds over the cost of construction will make it possible to upgrade the pier decking and to
add a bulletin board, fish feeders, landscaping, etc. The committee is working with the Contract Administrator to finalize construction
details and prepare a request for proposal.
y Approved a proposal to engage Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates to perform LMOA’s 2010 financial audit and review of annual
meeting ballots, at a cost not to exceed $21,000 plus expenses.
y Appointed Sharon McLaughlin and Ray Weimer to the Safety & Security Committee.
y In President Scott Meiss’s report, read in his absence by Vice President Benita Ellen, he alerted members to a probable increase in
the Improved Property Fee for 2011. The annual fee, at $150 since 1998, pays for trash pick up, snow removal from roads and storm
clean up. The amount of the fee will be approved by the Board, along with the rest of the 2011 budget, at a special open session on
December 9.
y General Manager John Korhonen reported on the status of repairs at Tufton Lake and the Acres Pond. He also talked about the
critical need for repairs and upgrades to the main dam.

LMOA/Fluvanna County Land Swap: The Fluvanna Board of Supervisors agreed at its Oct. 20 meeting to go forward with
the proposed swap of unimproved land with LMOA. The LMOA Board of Directors will hold a community meeting/public hearing to brief
property owners on the proposal and to answer questions and receive comments. LMOA will mail notification about the land swap
proposal and the meeting to owners of adjoining properties. The meeting date, time and location will be announced to all members in
advance by normal communications means. The Board of Directors will vote on the proposal at a later date. The Board of Supervisors
also will hold a public hearing prior to its vote on the proposal. If approved by both boards, a contract will be signed, and the legal
transfer will take place at the earliest possible opportunity. For more information on the proposal, click on the link on the LMOA website
homepage at www.lmoa.org.

exterior of existing homes and to inspect problem areas around the community. The committee needs candidates to fill an end-of-year
vacancy. To apply, please fill out a Committee Resource form, and return it to the Administration Office as soon as possible. Forms are
available at the Office or on the website at www.lmoa.org under Library, Forms & Applications, Miscellaneous, Forms.

right and privilege to VOTE.
