Study Plan for Admission to a Master Program

国籍/Nationality: Pakistan 姓名/Name:Awais Liaqat

报考学院/School to apply: Civil Engineering 报考专业/Specialty: Structure Engineering

Everything in 21st century needs a proper and specific plan for development and construction. Engineers
are responsible for such creation. I strongly believe that the synonym of an Engineer is Creator. In simple
an engineer can do such things that normal people can’t even imagine of as world can see its glimpse.

My name is Awais Liaqat and I am writing to apply for Master Degree in Structure Engineering. I have
successfully completed my matriculation and intermediate with heavy score of 90% and 85%
respectively. I have done my bachelors in Civil Engineering from “Bahauddin Zakariya University
Multan, Pakistan in 2017 by achieving aggregate of 72%.

I was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often
involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. I am attracted to civil engineering because I like
the idea of helping to shape the world around me to meet the demands of the future. I hope for a
challenging career which I will find personally rewarding and am able to feel that I have given something
back to the community. The world is forever growing and evolving, as is the demand for new buildings
and good infrastructure. The pressures of population growth and global warming are ever increasing, and
civil engineers can help play a major role in designing more efficient structures, as well as planning
projects in developing countries.

Cities are continuing to expand and develop. Engineering provides the opportunity to shape and
manipulate the surrounding environment and inevitably the world in which we live. This has ignited in
me a great passion and desire to continue my further studies in Structure and Building Engineering. I
enjoy learning about new advancements and technologies incorporated into design and construction. I
very much look forward to an exciting and fulfilling career in Civil Engineering where I can engage in the
diversity of engineering. My bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering has made me more aware of what
sorts of problems occur in the real world and how these problems are dealt with.
I did my final year project in “Effects of Fibers in properties of Concrete” and comparing the crushing
and tensile strength with normal steel reinforced concrete (RCC) strength, and ‘Comparison of
Accelerated Curing and Normal Curing of Concrete” to test the best curing technique to achieve
maximum strength in less time than it’s normal (28 days). The main theme of my project was to introduce
the latest techniques by which we can replace the old methods of construction with advance techniques to
work efficiently and economically.

In this project I analyzed the suitable technique (Boiling water method) of curing to achieve maximum of
86% strength in three days instead of 28 days. I analyzed use of admixture’s effects on settling of
concrete in various weather conditions accordingly. I analyzed use of fibers instead of steel reinforcement
in Slabs.

I have also acquired 1 year valuable experience as Junior Structural Engineer in Orange Line Metro
Train Project Lahore, Pakistan. This role provided me the opportunity to work proactively within a
team as well as gained a good in-depth knowledge of the structural field.

What I will study for Master in China?

I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in Structural Engineering in China in Design courses like
“Basic and Advanced Design of Concrete Structures”, “Design of Steel Structures” and “Analysis and
Design for Wind and Earthquake Effects”, because from my current job experience, past internship and
my final year project I came to know the vast practical applications of the Structural engineering, this
caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. I hope that I can
gain more experience in dealing with situations, people, systems and demands which will be of a great
help in my future career. I hope I will be able to design mega structures that will withstand against worst
conditions of weather like Earthquake.

Why do I choose to study in China?

To reach a conclusion, studying at a university in China is an opportunity to succeed, to be original, to

improve as well as give a new shape to my current way of living. I am certain that I have every necessary
skill in order to become a name in the world of high class engineers. The prospect of studying in China
excites me, as it would mean learning and more importantly, living in a multi-cultural atmosphere. China
boasts some of the top universities and top students in the world, and as the wise say, "To be the best, you
have to beat the best”. Moreover, China’s diverse cultural norms and values, the famous gentle hospitality
of its people and Pakistan-China all weather friendly relations since past to promote bilateral trade,
acceptance and peace to both sides in great clarity make me feel China as my second homeland. Also, my
family fully supports my choice for China being my preference for Master studies. All these reasons put
together make China an ideal place for me to do my Master’s degree.

Thanking you in prolepsis.
