Remarks: Wambiri Road is a 1.5 km earth road

Materials: Soils 
1) Red volcanic soils are present along the 
entire alignment. Suitable for subgrade. 
Gravel 
1) May be obtained by leasing areas in the 
locality for borrow‐pits 
Sand 
2) May be obtained from local suppliers 
Aggregate 
3) No hard stone quarries present in the 
locality. Shall be imported by the Contractor. 
Drainage The area is well drained.

 Local levies Cess shall be payable to the Nairobi/ Kiambu 
County Governments with regard to harvesting 
materials. 
Settlements The entire alignment is densely settled, 
particularly Karinde, Wambiri, which contain 
numerous informal buildings on the road
