Project Overview  The proposed project consists of the following, total 7km 
1) Kahawa Sukari – Kimbo Road (1.6km) 
2) Kimbo – Eastern Bypass Link Road (2km) 
3) Further Roads within Kahawa Sukari (3.4)

6m carriageway, 1m shoulders, 2m footpaths 
Earthworks to formation level 
150mm base natural gravel on footpaths 
2 layers 200mm each hand packed stones.

  1st Stop  End of Kahawa Sukari ‐ Kimbo Road 
Remarks: 
Kahawa Sukari – Kimbo Road is a 1.6 km earth 
road with a temporary gravel surface. 
Shall be completely reconstructed. 
  Drive  Other accesses within Kahawa Sukari and Kimbo 
through  areas 
3.4 km earth road with a temporary gravel 
surface. 
Shall be completely reconstructed. 
  2nd Stop  End of 1km from the end of Eastern Bypass Link 
Road. Existing electric fence shall be removed to 
allow for onstruction. 
Remarks: 
Kimbo – Eastern Bypass Link Road is a 2 km earth 
road. 
Shall be completely reconstructed. 
Further Observations:  Water 1) Minor Kiu River along Eastern Bypass Link 
Road. 
2) Water is available from Kiambu County 
Government supplies 
  Materials: Soils 
1) Mostly black cotton soil which will be spoiled 
at the Contractor’s cost 
Gravel 
1) May be obtained by leasing areas in the 
locality for borrow‐pits 
Sand 
1) May be obtained from local suppliers 
Hardcore 
The contractor may obtain from local suppliers 
or nearby quarries e.g. in Thika 
Aggregate 
1) No hard stone quarries present in the 
locality. Shall be imported by the Contractor. 
  Drainage 1) The entire road is located in a generally flat 
area 
  Local levies The successful contractor shall pay cess and 
other applicable taxes to the County 
Government of Kiambu 
  Settlements The entire road traverses a densely settled 
residential area.
