 We chose Matina Town Square (MTS) as a place to observe its surrounding and

designs. As we observed, most of the signages and banners there use the colors red

and blue, and we think it’s becoming political. Matina Town Square was also named as

Duterte Town Square when President Duterte won the election. They use the color blue

and red as it represents the color of Duterte’s candidacy, as well as the color of the

Philippine flag. MTS is known because of its nightlife but now, it became more like of a

political place because of the colors and signages that represents Duterte.

We also observed that there is one establishment that seems to be different from

the other establishments in the said place, and that is Keepsakes. The design of the
place is totally different from the others because of its aesthetic designs that are cute

and colorful. Also, it has more lively colors than the others who has more of dark colors

on its design. Keepsakes has a different font, that has a curly kind of design and has a

light colors in it while the others uses a bold fonts and dark colors.

Matina Town Square is known for its nightlife, party, and fun, but it’s starting to

lose its vibes and energy where people used to have a great time. We are hoping to

bring back the essence of MTS that we used to know and have before.
