CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH METHDOLOGY

This will be a quantitative descriptive study & correction research design. The data will
be Collected by using standardized psychornetric questionnaire. Self-reported survey
technique will employ with participants for data collection.

PARTICIIPANTS
The participants of the study will be (N=200) selected from city Zhob (Baluchistan).
(N=100) working and (N=100) non working woman by using probability techniques of
simple random sampling would be used to Select the sample. working women from
school and college teachers, doctors, nurses and non-working women from the relatives
working women such as their sister’s friends etc. of city zhob. The age rang will be 30 to
45 years. .

PROCEDURE
The participant will be recruited from different working; areas_such as school, colleges,
hospital, and non working selected from the 'friend and family member of working
women of zhob city Baluchistan Pakistan. administrator of academies will be convinced
and permission will be obtained to conduct the study. These participants will be
approached through their instructors participants will be informed about the objective of
the study and their consent will be taken before proceeding. participants will be informed
about the objectives of the study and their constant will taken before proceeding.
Participants will complete the study measures. Alter data collection life satisfication score
(SWLS) and mental health scale (DASS) will be correlated between working and non
working women.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION

Life Satisfaction
According to Ed Diener and bis colleagues (1999), subjective well being or happiness,
has both an affectionate (i.e. Emotional) and a cognitive (i.e. Judgment) component. The
effective component consists of how frequently an individual report experiencing positive
and negative affect.

Does the -way people show their emotions and feelings (moods) and how they feel about
their directions anti options for the future? [1] it is a _measure of being _and may be
assessed in terms of mood, satisfaction with relations with others and with achieved
goals, self-concepts, and self-perceived ability to cope with daily life. It is having a
favorable attitude of one’s life as a whole rather than an assessment of current feelings.
Life satisfaction has been measured in relation to economic standing, amount of
education, experiences, and residence, as well as many other topics

Mental Health
Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or
her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and
fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

Stress
stress in general term applies to various psychologic (mental) and physiologic (bodily)
pressures experiences or felt by throughout their lives. Stress is defined as “a state of
psychological and physiological imbalance resulting from the disparity between
situational demand and the individual's ability and motivation to meet those needs.”
ANXIETY
According; to Richard Benson, it is a state of fear and apprehension that affects many
areas of functioning it plays a valuable role in self-preservation the fear of the
consequences often prevents us from taking unnecessary risks. This kind of unnecessary
risks usually comes in female life.

Anxiety as a disorder results from the fear response becoming out of proportion to the
actual risk the body responds to anxiety stimulus both physically and mentally.

Depression
Is a state of low mood and ;aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts,
behaviour feelings anti sense of well-being.

Working Women
A woman who earns a salary wages, or other income through regular employment,
outside the home.

Non-working
Not engaged in paid employment non working mothers.

Instruments
Three instruments be used in this research
1=SWLS ( satisfaction with life scale) develop by Ed Diner and colleagues (1984) _
The SWLS is a short 5 item instrument designed to measure global cognitive judgments
of satisfaction
With one’s life. The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) has been used heavily as a
measure of the life satisfaction component of subjective well-being. Scores on the SWLS
have been shown to correlate with measures of mental health, and be predictive of future
behaviors such as suicide attempts. in health psychology, the SWLS has been used to
measure the subjective quality of life of people experiencing serious health concerns. The
SWLS is a 7 point likert style response scale. The possible range of scores is 5-35, with a
score of 20 representing a neutral point on the scale. Scores between 5-9 indicate the
respondent is externmely dissatisfied with lfie, whereas scores bwetween 31-35 indicate
the respondent is extremely satisfied. The coefficient alpha for the scale has ranged from .
79 to 89, indicating that the scare has high internal consistency. The scale was also found
to have good test-retest correlations (..84.80 over a month interval). Fora detailed
psychometric description of the SWLS see: Pivot, VV., St Diener, E. (2008).

Urdu version of Mussatfa butt, Arninaghani and sharukh khan will be used. the average
reliability is about 15 studies is. 85.

2=DASS (DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, STRESS) Scale develop by Lovibond (1995)

The Dass is a set of three self report scale designed to measure the negative emotional
states of depression. Anxiety and stress. The DASS should thus meet the requirements of
both researchers and scientist professional clinicians. .The DASS has 42 items. The
DASS-21 has 21 items if you are under' time pressure. The DASS-21 scores are
multiplied by two so that you can compare the UASS-21 score with the normal DASS.
Urdu version of Dass21 by Naeem Aslam will be used. Tire alpha values for the sub
scales of DASS are 84, 82, and 87 for depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively
(Lovibond and Lovibond.1995). the alpha values of the Urdu translated scale were, 72,
74, 76 for depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively (Aslam, 2007)

The Depression scale assesses dysphonic, hopelessness, devaluation of life, self-

deprecation, lack of interest; / investment, anhedonia, and inertia.

The Anxiety scale assesses autonornic arousal, skeletal muscle effects, situational anxiety,
and subjective experience of anxious affect.

The Stress scale is sensitive to levels of chronic non-specific arousal. it assesses difficulty
relaxing, nervous arousal, and being easily upset/agitated,, irritable/over-reactive and
impatient. Subjects are asked to use 4-point severity/frequency scales to rate the extent to
which they have experienced each state over the past week.

Scores for depression Anxiety and Stress are calculated by summing the scores for the
relevant items. In addition to the basic 42- item questionnaire, a short version, the DASS
21, is available with 7 items per scale.

3=PIQ (Personal Information Questionnaire)

Personality information questionnaire will be administered on the sample to collect the
background characteristic of the respondent’s age, mother education, father education,
socio economic status, join / nuclear system to get information about demographic
characteristics.

DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis is through descriptive method by mean, median, mode and t score. The
statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) used for statistical analysis.

CHAPTER 4
ANALYSES OF RESULT
The mean, standard deviation and t-test would be used to analyses of difference among
various variables. The finding will be clearly present in the form of tables and group of
the analysis of data. All the result will then be statistically analyzed by using excel and
SPSS volume 21.
