PROCEDURE (45 min.)

Introduction (5 min.)

As students begin entering the classroom, get them to set their stuff off to one side of the room, and come sit in a circle
in the middle of the room.

If you can hear me clap once, if you can hear me clap twice, if you can hear me raise your hand. Thank you.

Hello everyone. Please tell me how you are doing today in 2 words. Be quick, or I will go to the next
person. Starting with ______, next, next, etc. (snap fingers to keep the pace going fast)

We are going to start off where we ended yesterday with gift giving. Please remember the letter that I give
you. Assign kids to be A or B.

A’s move into a line facing the smartboard (line on ground for reference)
B’s move into a line facing A’s. (line on ground)
There should be a person standing in front of you. If you do not have a person, raise your hand.

Body (38 min.)

Gift Giving
-A’s have a gift for B’s. It can be however big or small you want, and it can be whatever you want it to be. However,
you cannot say what it is.
-B’s, when you open up the gift, I want to see your facial and body reactions to whatever you think is inside!
NO BOMBS OR ANYTHING THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH
-B’s will then have a gift for A
-Then both A’s and B’s will take a few steps, back and slowly approach the gift box on the ground (in the middle)
together  they must react together  I will give them the broad topic of what could be in there (ex. something spiky,
something frightening, something cute, etc.)
-Please talk with your partner about what you thought the gifts were

One Word Story

-In their groups of 2, pair them with another group so that they become 4
-They must tell a story as a group, ONE WORD AT A TIME
-They must begin with “Once upon a time…”  that’s already 4 people talking
-NO DEATH
-Think about a beginning, middle, and end to your story
-Kids can do probably 2 stories

45, 30, 15, 10, 5

-Split up one group to add a fifth member into other groups
-Have them line up on one side of the room in 5 lines of their 5 people  as if they are going to do a relay race
-Each person in each group will perform THE SAME SCENE within different time limits
-The 1st person in line will perform the scene for 45 seconds (stretch out the story)
-2nd person will do the scene in 30 seconds
-3rd = 15 seconds
-4th = 10 seconds
-5th = 5 seconds
-I will time each round  ALWAYS WAIT TIL YOU HEAR ME BEGIN THE NEXT ROUND to start
Scene = a bank robbery on ice (the floor of the bank is a skating rink)

Portrait (if extra time)

-A setting / place will be given to you
-One person will enter the middle and freeze in a pose to fit the setting
-One at a time, other people will enter the middle and freeze in a pose that compliments or ADDS TO what is already
happening in the setting
-Can be living, an object, a clothing item, or anything else that fits the scenario
-Under the sea example
-MUST STAY FROZEN ONCE YOU ENTER THE PICTURE
-The only time you can be moving is after the last person finishes telling the story of the picture
-Split the class into 2 groups, and get going
-Do 2 rounds of this (so that the story teller at the end can change)

Conclusion (2 min.)

Thank you for a great class today everybody.
