Engineering Department (Water & Sanitation) is one of the 20 departments under YCDC, which is
responsible to supply of clean and potable water to the citizens of Yangon City and to serve
sewerage and sanitation facilities to the city.

To provide safe water, hygienic living, and sound water environment
to overall citizens sustainably!

Missions of Engineering Department ( Water & Sanitation)


▪ To distribute daily the assured and safe drinking water for Yangon City dwellers
▪ To collect the water charges properly
▪ To prevent the water leakage and to reduce the Non-Revenue Water
▪ To manage for the systematic sewage disposal
▪ To upgrade and manage the water distribution and the sewerage system by using
modern techniques.

Necessity of New Water Supply Projects
Implementing new water sources for Yangon is necessary to meet the increasing
water demand in 2025 and 2040, i.e. 258 and 525 MGD.
