ABSTRACT
Background : Hypertriglyceridemia is one type of dyslipidemia, which generally
coincides with elevated levels of Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) high, or high-
density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) is low. Data in Indonesia are taken from the national
basic medical research (RISKESDAS) in 2013 showed 11.9% with very high triglyceride
levels (≥ 500 mg / dl). One of the traditional drugs used to lower blood triglyceride levels
are the leaves of the soursop (Annona muricata Linn), because it is expected to have
relatively fewer side effects than drugs other anti triglyceride. A decrease in triglyceride
levels after administration of soursop leaf extract is due to the active substance content
in the leaves of the soursop as flavonoids, tannins and saponins.
Aim : Knowing comparison soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) and simvastatin to
decrease triglyceride levels.
Method :This research is an analytic study using experimental designs to approach one
group pre-test post-test.
Results: paired T test showed that the treatment group using soursop leaf extract is
obtained prior to intervention mean triglyceride level of 107.40 mg / dl and after an interval
of 90.40 mg / dl. Statistical test results obtained by the p-value (0.018) <0.05 which means
that there are differences between the mean triglyceride levels between before and after
treatment. Similarly, in the group taking the drug simvastatin was obtained prior to
intervention mean triglyceride levels of 146.0 mg / dl and after an interval of 86.80 mg /
dl. Statistical test results obtained by the p-value (0.028) <0.05 which means that there
are differences between the mean cholesterol level between before and after treatment.
conclusion: available there are significant differences between the administration of
Moringa leaf extract and administration of drugs simvastatin in lowering blood triglyceride
levels, the value of p (0.016)> 0.05 in which simvastatin was more effective than the
leaves of the soursop
