E1 Port Mapping - Central and Remote
Map port = the other end port to
which this port connects to.

For Central: the map port must

match the Remote ports configured.

For Remote: the map port must

match the Central port that connects
to this Remote.

Example of port mapping for a

Central connected to 3 Remotes:

c Port Map Port Port Map Port

Central Site TDM WAN

Synchronization:

1- Primary Clock: User port 1

2- Secondary Clock: User port 5 (Will
be set automatically if Hunt is chosen)
3-Select Round Robin (to pick up any
user port for clock sync)
Enabling round Robin forces the secondary clock
back to E1 port, if previously set otherwise

Other Options:
- BNC Input when you have an
external reference

10 Confidential 10
System Clock - Considerations

• System Clock When the WAN is over IP the Central CX-

U unit will take it’s reference clock from one
of the MSCs E1 ports.
The Remote CX-U will use it’s internal
Reference in order to provide clocking to
the BSC.

When the WAN is over the Serial V.35

port, the Central CX-U will take it’s
reference clock from one of the MSCs E1
ports.
The Remote CX-U can take it’s CLK
reference from the modem’s Serial V.35
port and use it to clock it’s E1 ports
towards the BSC.

HOW TO VERIFY NETWORK JITTER AFTER DEPLOYMENT

1- perform a ping test

ipping:1 addr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, nbping=1000, gaps=2 <enter>
ipping:1 send=2 <enter>
ipping:1 <enter> to see results

CX_HUB_V4: ipping:1
[1] ix = 1 addr = 192.1.2.2 gaps = 10 num = 1000 size = 64
dscp = 0 rowst = 2 send = 2 nbtx = 1000 replyrx = 1000
errorrx = 0 lastseq = 6 lasttrip = 497 avgtrip = 496
mintrip = 486 maxtrip = 517 hops = 1

2- Calculate Network Jitter

Network Jitter = (maxtrip - mintrip )/2
Jitter buffer setting must be higher than Network Jitter measured.
