Re: Alison Maffucci

Dear Training or Clinic Director:

I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Alison Maffucci who is applying to your practicum program. Ms.
Maffucci is an exceptional candidate to join your team. I have had the privilege of being Ms. Maffucci’s instructor in
Psychopathology last Fall semester. Please do not let the fairly limited amount of time I have known Ms. Maffucci minimize
this recommendation, as in this very short time she has made an incredibly strong impression. Ms. Maffucci is a truly
wonderful strong student whom I think would make a strong addition to your team.

Ms. Maffucci is, hard-working, dedicated, and passionate. These things are evident very quickly upon meeting her. What I
hope to convey in this letter is how truly special I believe that she is. Ms. Maffucci is the type of student whom I hope to
follow throughout her career, because I am very confident she will be very successful. I base this on multiple factors. First,
she is intelligent and focused. Her assignments in class were in the top 2% of students. She displayed an above-average
ability to wrestle with diagnosis, but far more impressive was the sophisticated and erudite manner in which she discussed
complex psychological concepts. Second, Ms. Maffucci’s passion for the profession comes across easily and in a welcoming,
rather than pushy, manner. She has reached out to me several times to discuss her desire to pursue a PsyD and to seek
counsel in this regard. She does so professionally and with great curiosity, but it truly is her passion that comes across. Third,
and perhaps most importantly, Ms. Maffucci demonstrates a personal maturity and sense of solidity as an individual that I
think will serve her well. She has a strong awareness of her strengths as well as her areas or development, all while
possessing a quiet and mature confidence that accompanies true humility. This constellation of qualities – intelligence,
passion, and maturity – create an ideal candidate for clinical growth.

It really has been a great pleasure getting to know Ms. Maffucci, and I am very confident that she will make a special
clinician. It is with great confidence that I recommend Ms. Maffucci to your program. I am certain that she will make
significant contributions to make to your team and that she can learn a tremendous amount from the experience. If you
have any questions, please contact me at (415) 373-3645.

Sincerely,

Adam J. Rodríguez, Psy.D.
