1-1 Functions and features
11KVA 3U series UPS is designed for mid-grade power systems which can provide clean power
supply to data system, communication system, computer network system, medical system,
monitoring system and factory devices, etc.
11KVA 3U series use the use the high-frequency modulation technology, to decrease the
volume, increase the reliability and extend the life of UPS.
’1+1’ parallel redundancy system is available (MBB optional) and thereby effectively
improve the reliability of the system.
When two UPS units are at parallel mode, they can use the same battery cabinet to reduce
the cost and save the installing space.
AC start without battery: The UPS can start up without the battery when AC source is in
normal condition.
It is convenient for the user to set the parameters such as the output voltage & frequency,
charger current and password via the LCD panel.
Via the LCD, the user can get clear and correct information of the UPS operation condition
such as the load, input/output voltage, input/output frequency, and the battery voltage, etc.
The advantages of multi-segments fan speed-control: the efficiency increased, noise
decreased and the use life of the fan extended.
CPU can log 5 times of abnormal information about the UPS which enables to find out
correct diagnosis about the UPS faults, to improve the efficiency of maintenance.
Users can use RS232 & SMART2000 to display information of the current UPS operation
status and manage it. The SNMP card is another option for users to communicate, monitor
and control the UPS via the network.
When the input voltage is within ±10%, the UPS can be set at the ECO mode in purpose of
further improving the efficiency. The UPS will transfer to ON-LINE mode if abnormal
condition occurs.
Auto discharge time of the battery can be set, thereby extending the life span of the battery.
Output voltage can be set via LCD: 200 / 208 / 220 / 230 / 240 Vac.

2. UPS System Introduction
2-1 Operation Mode
11KVA 3U UPS has 4 kinds of basic operation mode.
► AC mode (ON-LINE mode)
The UPS can work at AC mode while the load, input voltage and input frequency meet the
below conditions.
Conditions
Input volt 100~156Vac 156~280Vac 280~300Vac
Load De-rating linearly <100% <90%
Input freq 40~70HZ
► BYPASS mode
The UPS can work at BYPASS mode when the I/O voltage meets the conditions shown as
below.
The UPS will work at BYPASS mode when any of below conditions occurs.
1. No start with normal AC source
2. BUS OVP,UVP
3. Over-temperature protection
4. Inverter OVP,UVP,FAIL
5. Overload
6. Output short
7. MCU invalid
► ECONOMIC mode
If it is set on ECO mode and the input voltage is within +/-10% of the output voltage, the
UPS will work at ECO mode.
The current path at ECO mode is the same as the one at BYPASS mode.
17
2-2 Operation Mode Introduction
When the utility power is applied to the UPS, it will be converted from AC to DC via
rectifying and PFC. Then one path of the DC voltage will be supplied to the inverter and
produce clear and steady sine output voltage for the load. The other path will be supplied
to charge the battery.
The UPS will automatically transfer to BACKUP mode when the input voltage is abnormal
(power off, abnormal waveform, sags and surges). The PFC will be powered by the
battery to produce DC voltage which will be supplied to the inverter and produce clear and
steady sine output voltage for the load.
18
2-2-3 Bypass Mode (Single Unit)
When either overload or over-temperature occurs with normal input voltage, the UPS will
automatically transfer to BYPASS mode. It will recover by itself to normal mode once the
fault is eliminated. If any of the conditions such as the output short, BUS OVP, rectifier
failure, I/O fuse open occurs, the UPS will automatically transfer to BYPASS mode.
When two UPSs are in parallel mode, the capacity, output voltage, output frequency and
the load connected to the two units must be same. Once one of the units fails, all of the
load will be bore by the other unit. If the total load is out of its capacity, the UPS will
transfer to BYPASS mode and the load will be powered by bypass.
19
2-2-5 Backup Mode (Parallel Redundancy & Common Battery)
When abnormal input condition occurs, the two UPSs will automatically enter the backup
mode, equally supplying the power to the load. The UPSs will recover to normal mode
once the input returns to normal level.
Just the same as described in chapter 2-2-3, two UPSs will simultaneously transfer to
BYPASS mode, equally supplying power to the load.

If the AC input voltage is out of the range specified by the rating output (240V:156~276V;
200V/208V/220V/230V:156~264V), there is no output from bypass as shown below.
When the AC input voltage is within the range specified by the rating output
(240V:156~276V; 200V/208V/220V/230V:156~264V) but the frequency is out of the range
(50Hz: 47~53Hz; 60Hz: 46.4~53.6Hz), there is no output from bypass as shown below.
49
3-1-7 Normal Mode of AC Inverter
It is shown as below when the voltage of AC input is within the range of 100~300V and the
frequency is within 40~70Hz.
3-1-9 Eco Mode (Please refer to chapter 3-1 & 3-2 for ECO mode setting)
Either the input voltage of AC power is within -10% ~ +10% of the rating output, or the
input frequency is within -6% ~ +6% of the rating one, the UPS will supply power from
bypass.
When the input voltage of AC power is outside –10% ~ +10% of the rating output or the
input frequency is outside –6% ~ +6% of the rating output, the output outlet is supplied
from the inverter, as shown below.
50
3-1-10 Faults
When abnormal condition occurs, the “FAULT” indicator will be on, as shown below.
When the UPS is under overload condition, the “OVERLOAD” indicator will be on, as
shown below.
At AC or BYPASS mode, the UPS will detect every 30 seconds if the battery is available.
Once detecting it is removed or damaged, the Rep. BATT will flash red.
Press the test key on the LCD panel or send out a test command by computer to do the
battery discharge test. Once abnormal voltage is detected, the “Rep.BATT” indicator will
light on.
