ABSTRACT

Pediatric malnutrition cases in Teluk Naga Sub-District were increasing from 0 to 10 cases in the period of
April to October 2017. One of them, a patient named An. M was diagnosed with malnutrition and stunting
in 2016, which until now has not reached the ideal weight and there is still many complications that may
occur. This study was done to improve the nutrition status of An. M so that ultimately can prevent the
occurrence of failure to thrive in the future. This study was conducted by using quasi-experimental to
compare the nutritional status of An. M before and after intervention. Nutrition status and anthropometric
data were obtained through medical records at Teluk Naga Health Center. Nutritional intervention was done
by giving education about the selection and processing of food source with the principle of increasing 20%
total calories based on the last food intake and then increased gradually. The result of the intervention
showed an increasing of An. M's weight gain 0.9 kilograms within one week. This study showing very good
