STOCK MAINTENANCE SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
This software project is a traditional supermarket stock maintenance & billing system with
some added functionality. This system is built for fast data processing and bill generation for
supermarket customers. The stock maintenance & billing system consists of an sql database
and effective front end designed in VB.

The billing database is a vast collection of product name, price and other product specific data. A
product when billed is searched from the database and its price is added to the bill based upon the
product quantity. The system also contains discounts on various products so that the product is
offered at discounted price while billing.

The supermarket stock maintenance & billing system is built to help supermarkets calculate
and display bills and serve the customer in a faster and efficient manner. This software project
consists of an effective and easy GUI to help the employees in easy bill calculation and providing
an efficient customer service.

Advantages
The system reduces much of human efforts in calculating bill
especially for
huge products.
Saves money and resources of organization and excludes of use
of paper or
sheets in making bill.
It can detect the product information and their price
instantaneously
Saves time.
It provides accuracy and faultless in billing calculations.
The system is designed having attractive GUI and with detailed
description.

It is flexible and user-friendly.

 Disadvantages:
Requires large database.

Existing System
The system, which is followed at present, is a manual system. The system consists of Book Of
Accounts that has to be maintained in all aspects. Printing work are difficult. In the existing
system each and every time a reference should be made manually. There are high possibilities to
commit errors and mistakes, which leads to produce the wrong statements to the
management. Report generation is also not an easy task.

Another important drawback of existing system is time factor. It will not help the management
to solve the problem in time. The management could not act on any issue purchase of production
unless getting the reports in time controls cannot be used.

DRAWBACKS OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM

PROPOSED SYSTEM
The new system is reduced paper works. New System are easy to manage the stock. Easy to
maintain the services. New System are easy to manage orders. Easy to generate various types of
reports. Data security can be easily provided. The new system will save the time of the user and
increase efficiency of the user.
