A SUMMARY OF BEING

“Being”, whatever we believe it is,

appears to be so comprehensive
that we long to find a summary
We divide the endless manuscript
into countless parts and chapters
extracting formulas and poetry
The formulas compress existence
by describing rules of interaction
between factors we can measure
But a poet also wants to summarize
the parts of Being beyond matter
blending what he feels with science;
filling gaps left in a summary
based on perceived predictability
