Medical Marijuana

This topic is something that is a big deal to me. I’ve had a chronic illness since the start

of middle school and constant pain since 8th grade. It very quickly gets tiring and hard. Though

I have found ways to work through my normal pain when it flares up it can make me

unfunctional. I’ve been on dozens of medicines and for the most part, they have horrible side

effects. I’ve done a lot of research into different treatments and methods to manage the

symptoms. Reading medical websites, joining Facebook groups of others with the same illness

and talking to others about their experiences, has been extremely helpful.

One treatment that comes up a lot is CBD oil and medical marijuana. There is a lot of

controversy over it. Some people view it as a horrible drug with bad side effects and some people

view it as a miracle product to use for treatment. I’ve done a lot of research already into how it

works but I want to do more. I was about to try CBD as part of my treatment a week before Ohio

changed their laws. That was a very disappointing time as my doctors are running out of

treatment options to try. The thought of my pain never getting better is hard to process. I’m

excited about the chance to educate myself about this topic. It is a treatment that I want to try to

pursue in the future even if I’d have to move.

This topic, medical marijuana is one that I feel very passionate about. It makes me feel

very hopeful that I could have something that would give me the opportunity to have less pain

without the side effects that other medicines give me. I think that medical marijuana is a great

thing and that people should be able to use it reasonably to help better their lives. I believe that

this is a topic that impacts a lot of people’s lives. There are millions if not billions of people who

struggle with chronic pain and mental health issues. I know that most medical research backs up

the benefits of medical marijuana. I also know that it was something that uses by ancient cultures

as herbal medicine. The also used hemp for textiles, rope, and paper.

For my paper, I need to do more research into what people’s concerns are containing to

medical marijuana. I need to read more deeply into medical studies of marijuana’s effects on a

body impacted by chronic pain. I want to look deeper into how it affects our pain receptors and

other parts of nerves and brain. I want to see who has negative effects from it and how often it

happens. I’m very excited to dive into this topic and learn more about this topic.
