Abstract—Cognitive radio networks is an adaptive, intelligent radio and network technology that
can automatically detect available channels in a wireless spectrum and change transmission
parameters enabling more communications to run currently and also improve radioactive
behavior. CRNs have been a promising technique to improvise the spectrum efficiency of mobile
networks which ultimately forms spectrum clouds to provide services for unlicensed users.
CRNs have rise as a prominent solution to make better efficiency of spectrum usage and network
capacity. It gives awareness of internal state and environment to the introduction of cognitive
radio networks. The main feature of routing protocol in multi-hop networks is the routing metric
which is used to select the best route for forwarding the packets. It enhances the current routing
protocol and evaluations are carried out on NS2 in terms of throughput with minimal overhead.
A routing protocol for multi-hop CRNs which combines the probability of packet loss rate,
spectrum utilization and throughput. Dynamic spectrum enables the fast deployment of new
wireless technologies by effectively utilizing allocated yet unused wireless networks.
