This first source was an interview with a teacher who teaches American Government as
my high school names Amy Elsass. I interviewed her on February 28th and she felt that Capital
Punishment should illegal as the entirety of how inhumane it could be and how it couldn’t be
really fair for the world.

The writer's purpose was to explain their point of view on the topic. Their audience was
me as I interviewed her to see her point of view to use in this essay. She explained her point of
view and gave valid reasons why she believed in what she said.

The writer consists of Amy Elsass an American Government at Miamisburg High School.
I also feel the author is very credible as with her profession she deals with government and what
happens in the government daily as she usually discusses her opinion on these topics. I feel this
source is reliable as I am the eye witness and took this information at first hand. Also she has a
valid background in this topic.

I will use it to help with the counterargument in my writing as I disagree with how she
views the thought of capital punishment. It will help me refute my reubuttle as it will cause
controversy and may lead to do sway the way of her views.

The second source is an interview I had with another teacher at my school. This teacher
was Melvin Johnson who teacher Business Law at my school. I interviewed him on February
28th and he felt that Capital Punishment should be illegal due to the chance of being wrong.

The writer’s purpose was to explain their point of view in the topic. The audience was me
as I interviewed him on his point of view on this topic. He explained his reasons why he felt he
capital punishment should be illegal and gave certain real life examples because of it.

This source consists of Melvin Johnson a teacher who teaches Business Law at
Miamisburg High School. I feel he is credible due to how capital punishment is part of his
curriculum. As he has a good background in the topic and has put in perspective all of the
different views about the topic.

I would use it in my counter argument as it can give me a reason to show why capital
punishment could be illegal. I could also use the examples of evidence he provided to me in my
counterclaim. I could then show the amount of people who served capital punishment and how
many were falsely accused and use that statistics in my writings.
The third source I will use is the movie the Green Mile directed by Frank Darabont. This
movie was made in 1999. This movie shows the background of Capital Punishment and what
actually happens and the cruelty that someone might face in the display of Capital Punishment.

The directors purpose was to show the act of Capital Punishment. The audience was
anyone who watched this movie. This movie shows how an innocent main that is just seen in
the wrong frame can be sentenced to Capital Punishment and how cruel it can be.

The source consists of director Frank Darabont. I feel it is somewhat credible due to how
the movie was shot and the era the movie took place. As I feel this person doesn’t really have
an accurate background for the topic. But he probably did his research over the certain topic.

I could use it throughout my essay to see how the common eye sees the aspect of
capital punishment. As how the director portray the thought through the movie. It is put into
effect as near the end of the movie when it shows who actually should be in trouble and maybe
there should be no capital punishment.

The third source is an article is written by Brad J Bushman. It was written January of
2014. This articles shows his views of why Capital Punishment should be taken down and not
be used anymore. As he lists an amount of reasons and displays his view on these reasons.

The author purpose is to persuade people into thinking we should kill the death penalty.
The audience is anyone who is interested in the topic. He gives a list of reasons why it should
be abolished and persuades us to believe in his idea.

The source consists of author Brad J Bushman. I feel it is credible due to his background
and his field of Social Psychology as he is a professor at Ohio State. I feel this source is really
credible due to his background and how good his history is on the topic.

I could use this throughout the essay to give counterclaims and also compare my views
versus his views. I could also show through which ideas I agree with and which ones I disagree
with. I also could put it in my counterargument to help with the overall of my essay.

The fourth source I was gonna use is written by Philip Holloway. It was written in July of
2015. This article shows why he feels maybe the death penalty should be abolished and gives
a list of reasons why. As he showed the list of specific reasons why it should be.

The author’s purpose was to persuade us to believe in his point of views. The audience
is anyone who is concerned with the topic of Capital Punishment. He then makes different
paragraphs with certain subheadings that explain these points.

The source is written by Phillip Holloway. I feel that he is credible due to his background
and he is a legal analyst over criminal law. As he has many articles over certain law topics. And
he is a writer for CNN which is a top news agency.
I could use this throughout my essay as mainly a counterclaim for my entire writing. I feel
that I could use it to go against my interests and views. I also feel like I could see more of his
views and use it.

The fifth source I will use is written by Adam Liptak. It was written on February of 2019.
This article is about an inmate suffering from dementia who served the death penalty. It shows
how wrong the death penalty is and such.

The author’s purpose was to give someone a reason to go against the death penalty
about how wrong it could be. The intended audience is for anyone interested in the death
penalty. He shows how wrong the death penalty is and who can be affected by the death
penalty.

The source is written by Adam Liptak a New York Times writer. I feel that he is credible
due to the firm he writes for and how credible he is with the series of writing he has with this
Newspaper. Also due to the number of writings he has portrayed.

I could use this to explain real life examples of how this has occurred. It will help explain
the cause of the death penalty and how it can put into real life. I feel I could use quotes how it
may be put upon the wrong people.

The sixth article that i’ll use is written by the Editorial Board of the New York Times. It
was produced on December 31, 2017. It gives another example of how the death penalty needs
ended.

The author’s purpose was to show how the death penalty is inhumane and needs to be
abolished. The intended audience is for anyone interested in the death penalty. I feel like he
writes and gives ideas of why it should be abolished.

The source is written by the Editorial Board of the New York. Who is credible due to
select individuals who are elected to this. This shows how keen they are on this topic and what
there stance is on this.

I would use this to show important the topic is in the society. I will then list a list of high
up news powerhouse to show how they have taken this idea and put it into perspective. This
would be very helpful with the overall number of sources involved in this topic.

The last source I would use is from 1829 about a 12 year boy sentenced to death. This
was written in 1829 and the author is unknown. It shows how crucial this topic has been in the
last centuries.
The author’s purpose is to show how cruel the people were in the olden days. This is
intended to anyone trying to find old passages about capital punishment. This shows how far
back this has been a problem in society.

The source is written by unknown source. I found it in the British Library dated back to
1829. This shows how far back Capital Punishment has gone. It has even gone back to Jesus
as you could maybe see his crucifixion as a statement of Capital Punishment.

I would use this to show how far this topic dates back. How inhumane and cruel it has
always been. It would help when I explain how controversial this topic has been and how much
it has been a statement in the history of human life.
