THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EYE DROPS OBEDIENCE AND DRY
EYE SYNDROME ON LASIK POST-SURGERY PATIENT

Background: Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) is a combination of
lamellar surgery techniques with laser excimer photoablation precision to correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Currently, this technique is in high demand by patients with refractive errors because they do not need to wear glasses longer and do not require intensive care as experienced of contact lenses users. Objective: To determine the relationship between eye drops obedience and dry eye syndrome on LASIK post- surgery patient in Undaan eye hospital Surabaya. Methods: The research design used Correlation Analytical research with cross sectional approach. The sample in this study were 80 Dry Eye Syndrome who checked up after LASIK post-surgery (H + 7) with simple random sampling technique. The independent variable is eye drops obedience and the dependent variable is Dry Eye Syndrome. The data obtained using observation sheets and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using chi-square statistical test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results and Conclusion: The results showed that there is a relationship between eye drops obedience through dry eye syndrome on LASIK post-surgery patient in Undaan eye hospital Surabaya with p-value = 0.000.
