Part – A (6*2=12)
1. Write down the three possible solution of one dimensional wave equation.
2. A rod 30cm long has its ends A and B kept at 200 𝑐 𝑎𝑛𝑑 800 𝑐 respectively, until steady state
conditions prevail. Determine the temperature at steady state.
3. Compute the Fourier sine transform of 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑒 −2𝑥 .
Part – B (4*12=48)
4. Construct the Fourier as for as the third harmonic from the following table:
6. A string is stretched and fastened to two points l apart. Motion is started by displacing the string into
the form f(x) = k(lx – x2), where k is a constant from which it is released at time t = 0. Compute the
displacement at any point of the string at a distance x from one end at any time t.
