1-YEAR STUDENT INTERNSHIPS

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION CENTRE

The International Education Centre at Bangor University is looking to appoint four students
to undertake one-year internships as part of the University’s International Experience Year
programme in 2019/20.

The internships are full-time and designed to give students significant work experience in
an international environment which should greatly enhance employment prospects upon
graduation. Participants will receive a training grant of approximately £370 per month and
may be required to attend up to three overseas training visits.

Successful applicants will undertake the internships as an additional ‘International

Experience Year’, extending the duration of the degree from 3 to 4 years (or in some limited
cases from 4 to 5 years). No tuition fees will be charged for the ‘International Experience
Year’ and students will receive an enhanced degree title and 30 additional Bangor credits
on successful completion. The internships are a combination of work experience, overseas
experience and academic reflection exercises.

Only undergraduate students are eligible to apply for these internships and although some
students will be ineligible due to professional accreditation or visa issues, most should be
eligible.

Successful candidates will be excellent communicators, highly-organised and efficient

individuals who enjoy and can cope with a demanding and complex range of administrative
and student-facing duties. Accuracy, cultural understanding and sensitivity are essential for
these roles. The interns will be working with both students and staff, therefore learning
Welsh may be a component of the internships.

Starting Dates are subject to negotiation but will normally run 01 September 2019 to 30
June 2020 in principle. The International Study Abroad internship will run form 1 June 2019
to 30 June 2020

To apply for these opportunities, please send your CV with a covering letter to Dawn-Marie
Owen: d.m.owen@bangor.ac.uk by 30 April 2019. Please make sure to include which
Internship you are applying for, your full name, university email address, Academic
