GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF A FINANCIAL AID PETITION

Petition for Reinstatement

1. This petition represents your explanation for failing to make/maintain satisfactory academic progress
(fall below 2.0 GPA and/or did not complete 75% of enrollment).

The petition process takes a minimum of three weeks to complete and you will receive a written response
by mail. Please note that the decision of the committee is final. If your petition is denied, you must
satisfactorily complete that semester and may petition again the following semester. Repeated courses will
not be funded without petition request and counselor recommendation.

FINANCIAL AID SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS


Federal, State, and Cosumnes River College financial aid regulations/policy require that all students who
receive financial assistance make/maintain satisfactory academic progress (according to the policy listed
below) toward the completion of their eligible program of study for a degree, certificate or transfer. Your
academic standing will be reviewed for satisfactory progress at the beginning of each semester at
Cosumnes River College.

FINANCIAL AID SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICY

1. Maintain Progress - Complete at least 75% of units enrolled :

Progress Percentage = (Total Units With “W”, “I”, “F” and “NC”) = Must Be 25% or less
(Total Units Attempted)

2. Maintain Minimum of 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) = Grade “C” or Better :

Grade Point Average = (Total Grade Point Earned) = Must Be 2.00 or Better
(Total Units Attempted With a Letter Grade)

3. Maximum Time Period or Unit Total toward program completion :

Completion of degree, certificate program or 150% of program length, whichever occurs


first (Students with 72 units or more attempted are required to petition with outline of
course requirements (SEP) needed for graduation/transfer from a CRC counselor.)

If you have extenuating circumstances that negatively affect your academic progress, you may complete
the Financial Aid Student Aid Petition for further evaluation. The Financial Aid Student Petition process will
take a minimum of three weeks to complete from the time of submission to the Financial Aid Office.

NOTE: Petitions are processed on a first-come first-served basis and take a minimum of three weeks to
complete. You will receive a written response by mail/email. Any changes made to your class
schedule or SEP after the approval of your petition will not be reviewed until after the end of the
semester.
