Pastor’s Paschal Pondering

For forty days in Lent, our souls were thirsting for a more vibrant, life-giving, spirit-filled relationship
with the Lord and we looked at some of the areas of our lives that kept that transformation from
occurring. At the root of it all was our sinfulness, our resistance to living the life which we know our
Lord was calling us. And hopefully, many of us responded to the Lord’s invitation to come to him and
re-discover the joy of living the gospel each and every day. We can tell if we put in the hard work and
opened our hearts if we have the joy of the Lord in our hearts this Easter! For it was by entering into
his own suffering and death that the Lord showed us what it means to find new life and resurrection!
Our Lord has indeed desired to quench our thirst! Our Lord has fulfilled every one of his promises!
Our Lord has forgiven our sins and filled us with the risen life made possible by grace! Yes, our Lord
is great indeed, and that is why we sing Alleluia! Alleluia to the Lord for his mercies toward us!
Alleluia to the Lord for his resoluteness in looking sin in the face and defeating it with the shedding of
his Precious Blood! Alleluia to the Lord for allowing all people of all time and places to come to
know him and follow him by faith! Alleluia to the Lord for welcoming us into paradise when our time
on earth is completed! Yes, while Lent lasts for 40 days, our Alleluia season of Easter is 50 days! It’s a
time to remember that nothing can compete with the sovereign reign of God in our lives and nothing
has the power to defeat the bright white light of God’s holiness, power, and love! Spread the
Word, the Lord has risen!, Allelluia! May you be blessed with a joyful Easter season! ---Fr. Sam.
