Introduction
Kaunlaran High School organized a Summer Reading Camp with the theme: “I can read
Universe” or “ICARUS” because we believe that reading is a prime key towards effectual
learning to happen in all subject areas. It’s also a window that glimpses us to see the world.
Also, in order to prepare the learners for life challenges particularly on facing the
upcoming school year, we exposed them on various activities in line with reading such reading
selection, reading between the lines, oral reading, getting the meaning through context clues. We
engaged them do it through learnable yet fun full indoor and outdoor games. Through with it we
augmented some students’ facets that includes social, cognitive and emotional condition
particularly their self-confidence.

B. Analysis
All activities, both outdoor and indoor, have been crafted well by the assigned
English teachers for this year’s Summer Reading Camp. Students were catered according
to their individual skills and proficiency in the English Language. The clustering of
students made it easier for each learners to explore enjoy and learn on their own pace and
cognitive level. The success of the camp is not manifested by the number of the
participants who attended but by the active participation and the shared lives of those
who willingly devoted their time and effort for the event.
C. Abstraction
Present the mechanics of every activity indoor and outdoor suited for Able and
Struggling students of incoming grade 8, 9 and 10.
Idiomatic Expressions
One representative of the group will pick one idiom from the box then
he/she will act it out and to some gestures about it. While the other group
members will guess it.
Vocabulary Activity
The facilitator will distribute a card with meaning of word/s to each other
of the participants. The participants will go to the board to match the word
with its meaning.
Halukay Relay
The group will read the posted sentence, after they distinguish the
meaning through context clues they can find it in the box.
4 Pics 1 Word
The participants were familiar with this game it is somehow the same as
what they play in their gadget the only difference is that they need to find
the 4 Pics 1 word around the school grounds in order for them to answer it.
There are sets of 4 Pics 1 word to be answered they should complete it all.
D. Application
The activities prepared for the Summer Reading Camp were designed to enhance
not only the reading skills of the students but also to develop their mastery of the
English language through comprehension and communication (oral or written).
IV. Closure
“Reading is a gift. It’s something you can do almost anytime and anywhere, it can be
a tremendous way to learn, relax and even escape.”
