One Day Workshop on Laws pertaining to laws of women, children

A One Day Workshop on Legal Aid was organized by District Legal Services Authority at Baba
Mast Nath University, Rohtak on 21st February 2019 (Thursday). The Faculty members,
administrative staff research scholars, students of Law and different faculties participated in the
event in large numbers.

The programme was inaugurated by Professsor Ram Sajan Pandey, Vice Chancellor, Baba Mast
Nath University, Rohtak. He welcomed the Chief Guest Ms. Sukirti, Secretary, DLSA, Rohtak
and Resource Person, Dr. Parmod Malik, Assistant Professor, Department of Laws, BPS Women
University, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. He emphasized that with hard work and discipline students
can achieve their aims and success in competitive world. Madam Anjana, Dean, Administration
felicitated the guests with bouquet and Momentos to the Chief Guest Ms. Sukirti and Resource
person Dr. Parmod Malik.

Ms. Sukirti, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Rohtak
discussed the importance of Legal Aid as instrument of social Change which fulfills the objective
of social justice enshrined in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. She discussed about the
provisions relating to Public Utility Services through Legal Care and Support Centers and
interacted with the students and gave practical solutions to the problems raised by the
participants related to sexual harassment of women at work Place, Domestic Violence Act etc.
She also discussed various provisions of National Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and the
persons entitled for legal aid. She appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Law,
Baba Mast Nath University, Asthal Bohar, Rohtak for organizing such kind of programme.

Resource Person Dr. Parmod Malik, Assistant Professor, Department of Laws, BPS Women
University, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat emphasized that all law students have to utilize the Legal
care and Support Centre for fulfilling the objective of access to justice to all. He briefed about
the issues and policies about the legal aid. He discussed the hierarchy of DLSA, HALSA, and
NALSA under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987. He appreciated the effort of HALSA in
opening of Legal care and Support Centres in the Offices of Protection Officers, Gram
Panchayats, Jails, Universities, colleges, Gram Panchayats, Observation Homes, PHC,
Communities Centers, Juvenile Justice Board, District Courts, for People of North East in
Universities.

Dr. Raj Kumar Yadav, Head and Coordinator of the progrmamme highlighted the importance of
Legal Aid to the participants and elaborated the provisions of Legal Aid to the persons having
Annual income below three lacs rupees to achieve the ends of Social Justice. In last he recorded
his sincere thanks to Madam Sukirti, Secretary, DLSA, Rohtak, Prof. Ram Sajan Pandey, Vice
chancellor, BMU, Rohtak and Madam Anjana, Dean, Administration, Prof. Ram Phool, Dean,
Students Welfare and resource person Dr. Parmod Malik for their support and cooperation to
organize the programme.

In law workshop Mr. Manish Dalal, Mr. Rajan Rathee, Mr. Vikram Saini, Ms. Neeraj, Ms. Raj
Rani were present and helped in organizing the event. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Registrar and Dr. Ajay
Bamba, Dean, Academic Affairs encouraged the staff of Department of Law for organizing such
events at regular intervals.
