CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

Research Locale

The study will be conducted at Lala National High School. The area is

prone to debris because of the construction happening inside the area and it

produced particles from the material that is used for construction. It is also a

public school and it is expected that few are not fortunate enough when it comes

to financial issues.

Research Design

This study will use an experimental research design for experimental

research is what we call true experiment. It is a collection of research designs

which use manipulation and controlled testing to understand casual processes.

Materials Needed:

 Two plastic bottles

 Metal sheets

 12v DC motor

 Plastic collar
 Mesh fabric

 Stick glue/ stick gun

 Corrugated tube

 Empty tube

 Cover from plastic bottles

 Pipe

 Deodorant bottle

Subject of the Study and the Research Instrument

The subject of the study will be the vacuum cleaner that will be used for

testing if it is effective and can remove the dust in a particular area. The

researcher’s would first fill out a survey on which it can determine how useful the

research study is for the people and how many people can relate to the study.

From the results, the researchers would try to focus mainly on the parts which

have a negative feedback.

Research Method

Step 1:

The two liter plastic bottle will be mark around the circumference by using a

marker and make two halves with the help of a cutter and a scissor. Next, the
deodorant bottle will be cut off at the top and bottom to produce a nice flat sheet

of metal.

Step 2:

In order to make a fan, take the nice flat sheet the obtained from the deodorant

bottle. The open circumference of the plastic bottle will be mark with a marker,

fairly sketched and cut. Then cut the marked bit out of the metal sheet and make

a round metal disc. The obtained metal ruler will be drawn with two sheets of

perpendicular lines and divide the disc into eight equal segments of the center.

Cut along, not all the way to the center, left a little room away from the hole. The

produced eight wings connected by a small segment of the disc. The wings are

twisted in the same direction to produce fan blades.

Step 3:

Now the fan and the motor are assembled. The either side of the crafted fan’s

center is glued with m-seal attached to the rotating rod on the 12v DC motor and

press hard to tighten it. Use m-seal because it provides an extra strength around

the joints. Then a circle is marked out around the base of the plastic bottle to fit

the DC motor. With the help of the soldering rod, drill around the bottle’s base

and make a series of small holes to allow the exhaust air to escape. Wire the

motor and then add a cap to cover the wiring which is glued inside the base of

the bottle and cut out the central circle made the DC motor to fit into the bottle.

Then connect the front assembly into the open section of the base with motor
and fan. Secure the seal with sticky plastic tape to form a nice airtight seal that

completed the main assembly.

Step 4:

The bottle cap from the previous bottle will be taken and make a large hole in the

center big enough to accommodate the bendy plastic tube. The small bottle is

taken to make a similar hole in the base and glue it to the other end of the pipe

and make the nozzle.
