Dependent and Independent Clauses Worksheet

A clause is a part of a sentence. A clause must contain a


verb. The independent clause makes sense on its own. An
dependent clause gives further meaning to the main clause.

Directions: Underline the independent clause once and the


dependent clause twice in each sentence below.
Example A: Because I can’t wait, I will go walking.
Answer: Because I can’t wait, I will go walking.
