Work life balance for working women in hospital sector

ABSTRACT

Work life balance is a method which helps employees of an organization to balance their
personal and professional lives. It basically encourages employees to divide their time on
priority basis and helps in maintaining a healthy life style. A healthy work life balance has
got greater significance in working women especially in today’s business world. Lot of
challenges is posed, both at workplace and family which exerts enormous pressure on
working women.

Review of literature related to this subject has revealed that women working experience
greater difficulty than man in balancing work and family. This study helps in investigating
the factors affecting work life balance among working women and the consequences of
poor work life balance. In addition helps in understanding the present methods followed
which would help in bringing new strategies or HR policy to have a healthy work life
balance to the working women.

SYNOPSIS
Title of the project: Work life balance among women employees at health care sector.

Statement of problem

The work life balance is an instrument in the modern working life of an individual
irrespective of their jobs. It is a challenging task to manage work and family
simultaneously. In addition many external factors affect the work life balance the women
working in health care sector undergo work pressure, inflexible working environment and
patient interaction. Also they undergo the pressure of multi task and multi demand. The
health care sector pose heavy responsibility and accountability on women which leads to
work life balance related issues. In addition the attitude of every individual also varies.
Health sector offers employment to women in various working conditions. The work
culture, economic resources leads to work life imbalance of women employees in the sector.
In order to study these factors particular research has been designed.

OBJECTIVES

 To study the socio economic aspects of women employees in health care sector.
 To understand the working conditions stress and job satisfaction that influences
professional life.
 To understand the influence of family life of women employees.
 To evaluate the factors affecting work life balance of women employees.
 To understand the strategies employed towards work life balance at work place,
family and personal levels
 To suggest recommendation according to study.
HYPOTHESIS

Null hypothesis (H0)


 There is no significant influence of age on work load.
 There is no significant influence of educational qualification on amount of
responsibility.
 There is no significant influence of designation on working condition.
 There is no significant influence of earning members on sources of income.
 There is no significant influence of monthly income on family welfare.
 There is no significant influence of experience on work load.
 There is no significant influence of marital status on support and on issues on
family members.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

For the study as the problem is well known which focuses on procurement of in-depth
knowledge and the facts will be used to analyze and evaluate the data. So, the research
would be descriptive as well as analytical in nature.

DATA COLLECTION

The data collection for the proposed research will be based on both primary and secondary
data.

PRIMARY DATA

Primary data will be collected by the respondents with the help of self-structured
questionnaire and face to face interview.
SECONDARY DATA

Secondary data will be collected from different sources:

 Magazines
 Journals
 Websites
 Books
 Newspapers
 Online resources
 Published and Unpublished source.
