siar2017 National Fire Protection Association Report [ ». Public Input No. 1480-NFPA 70-2017 [ Definition: Accessible, Readily (Readily NFPA Accessible). ] Accessible, Readily (Readily Accessible). Capable of being reached quickly for operation, renewal, or inspections without requiring those to whom ready access is requisite to take actions such as to use tools (other than keys), to climb over or under, to remove obstacles, or to resort to portable ladders-ané-se-forth.. (CMP-1) Informational Note: Use of keys is a common practice under controlled or supervised conditions and a common alternative to the ready access requirements under such supervised conditions as provided elsewhere in the NEC. ‘Statement of Problem and Substantiation for Public Input ‘The NEC uses the terms ‘and so forth’ about sixty times. After 42 years teaching the NEC, | have no ‘clue what this means. I's clearly a 'vague' description that leaves too much to the imagination of the reader. I did not submit a proposal for all sixty uses to have deleted: this should be done via correlating committee action. (CMP-5) Informational Note No. 1: It is recognized that the equipment grounding/bonding conductor also performs bonding, Informational Note No, 2: See 250.118 for a lst of acceptable equipment groundingdbondina conductors. Statement of Problem and Substantiation for Public Input Many members of Code panel 5 know the history on how the use of the terms ground, grounded, grounding, bond, bonding, and bonded were revised, starting in 2008 Code cycle, to have the terms mean what was intended. The one ‘leflover’ item was the equipment grounding conductor. ‘The effective ground-fault current path is comprised of the main bonding jumper, equipment bonding jumper, system bonding jumper, supply side bonding jumper, and the equipment grounding conductor. All of the items that construct the EGFCP containg the word bonding, except one. By renaming the EGC to the EBC, the Code terms used will be consistent and remove confusion, itjust makes the Code intent clearer, Submitter Information Verification ‘Submitter Full Name: Mike Holt Organizatior Mike Holt Enterprises Inc Street Address: City: State Tue Aug 01 13:46:29 EDT 2017 ‘Copyright Assignment |, Mike Hott, hereby revocably grant and assign tothe National Fire Protection Assocation (NFPA) allan full rights in ‘opyright inthis Puble Input (ineluaing both tne Proposed Change and the Statement of Problem ano Substantation). 1 Understand and intend that | acquire no ght, including rights as ajint author, in any publication ofthe NFPA in which this Public Input inthis or another similar or dervatve form is used. | hereby warrant hat lam the author of his Publi Input ‘and that | have full power and authority to enter int this copyright assigns © By checking ths box | frm that Lam Mike Hot, and | agree tobe legally bound by the above Copyright Assignment ‘andthe terms and conditions contained therein understand and intend that, by enecxing tis box, lam creating an tronic signature that wil, upon my submission of ths frm, have the same legal force and eflect as a handwtlen signature hitpsubmitals nfpa.orgTerraViewWeb ViewerPage jsp7id=70-2017 ctamapSdrat-tuesloe=false
