• Indie Pop is a type of music that originated in the United Kingdom that is a
subgenre of Alternative Rock.
• My personal favorites are Rex Orange County, Two Door Cinema Club,
Passenger, Lily Allen, Lykke Li, and so many more!
• I fell in love with this type of music when I was roughly 16 years old! I found it
while watching my favorite TV shows that consisted of the same music
throughout.

 Lowrider Oldies
• Lowrider oldies are simply old doo-wop genre music from the 1950s-1970s, which are
popular in the California area.
• My personal favorites consist of The Penguins, Heatwave, Santa and Johnny, Paul
Anka, Etta James, and many more classics!
• The reason I fell in love with this type of music was because my father always had the
tendency to play this around me and sing to me while I’d fall asleep. This type of music
just brings back great memories from my childhood

• I define this type of music as early 2000s R&B simply because I feel that later down the
road in the R&B genre, the way the music began to sound is far different than the way
the actual sound was. The rhythm, beats, style of voice, all seemed to change
drastically around 2010s .
• The original artists I listened to included Chris Brown, Rihanna, Usher, Alicia Keys, Trey
Songz, Destinys Child, etc.

• Country music is a twangy type of heart-warming music that you can just listen to
while you sit on the porch and listen to the wind whistle through the trees and comb the
grass. I have been listening to country music my entire life simply because I come from
an extremely small town where the town is surrounded in mountains, therefore, the
only radio stations we get are country.
• Due to this reason, country music will always have a special place in my heart! My
favorites include Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner and many
many more!

 Contemporary
• Contemporary music has held a good portion of my hear due to the fact that I have been
a dancer for the last 5 years and contemporary songs always held the most emotion
and feeling while carrying out the various dance styles.
• This type of music is great when choreographing a dance for lyrical styles and this type
of music could not have made my years as a dancer any better!

 Christian/Worship Music
• Christian music has pushed me to keep going when I feel like the world is against me or
I feel that I have stress weighing on my shoulders, I get a wave of relief when I listen to
this type of music because I know I am not in this world alone.
• I love this music due to the fact that I know God will always have me as long as I pursue
him and remain faithful!

 Reasons Why I Love Music
I love listening to music and truly recognizing the uniqueness in different individuals' voices because

I love to sing and different music helps me find my voice

It gives me inspiration to write music and find beats

Lyrical ideas help me when I don’t know how to feel or how to exert my emotions

Music makes me feel great!
